Thanks I will see about that dr in sf
I have hurd people be successful the second time from the old treatment.I will look more into it.
Mike, if you want to re-treat, your best bet is too get into oneof the new Clinical Trials they are doing, with newer meds, that dont include the Interferon shot.
If you need help finding these Research Trials, and their locations, then you could start a new post, asking for imfo on this.
I know of one location, in San Francisco, where they are doing this.
The Dr's name is Dr. Jacob Lalezari, and he works at Quest Clinical Research, located at 2300 Sutter st, Ste 202, S.F., Ca.
I dont have his ph # on hand, but you can google his name, and the # will be there. He has nice receptionists there, and they could answer your questions about any upcoming Research Trials.
should I retreat?

No...you cannot re-treat right now because of possible 'resistance issues" to the protease inhibitor.
This issue is still somewhat of a grey area in the medical community.
Treating again with PEG/Riba only? is that what you are asking? If so. .No,if you relapsed with the protease then re-treating with Peg? Riba would give you no chance of success.
As we suggested in the other thread Mike,if you re-test the PCR and find you have relapsed then the best thing to do is take care of yourself and wait for their to be different medications in the future with even better efficay.
With St.1 ,combined with being relatively young you have lots of time .
Best...
Will
I would wait till something new came out if your liver is in good shape.
i just had this conversation with my Hep specialist last week. he told me that the drugs in the pipeline will be more effective than the current PI's and that the resistance factor will not be a problem. he also said that it is very possible that interferon and ribavirin will be obsolete by then too....so that is very good news for you since you are at such an early stage...don't despair, you will beat it....
I think someone posted about this already in one of your other posts, but once you stop the protease inhibitors your body builds up resistance to it so you can't retreat. There are new meds coming down the pipeline though that don't seem to be as rough on the bod as the current meds.
