What is the standard of practice amount on PCR tests while on 48 weeks tx

I lost my insurance with the loss my employment on 3/31. Prior to that I actually had excessive PCR's (maybe one every 3 or 4 weeks (undetectable from week 2.5). My last PCR at 24 weeks was undetectable too. I continue to take the remaining Ribo/Interferon (I finish the Incivek in in November) which the drug company provides for free to the uninsured. But PCR's- A- I know they hover around 500.00 out of pocket. B- I know that the labs in NYS do not advertise their prices for comparative pricing. And C- Of course I will have one at 48 weeks and 6 months later if still undetectable. But what about these remaining 2 (finally!!) 2 months? What would be the standard of practice if I were still insured? Would not having 1 between 24 and 48 weeks be unwise for anything other than anxiety reduction (I wish I could buy a PCR on ebay). Certainly with the drugs available to me, my continued compliance with them, and an EVR I have done all I can to reach SVR.....Thanks. d     p.s. If anyone has a PCR pricing suggestion for NYC please share it, and yes I could get a prescription for one. d

End of treatment PCR is really all you need. I have heard people here say before that sometimes labs will agree to accept what Ins pays which is not very much. Talk to your doctor and do some checking. You might be able to work something out.............. With such a fast response your odds are really looking great....... Hang in there

Qualitative PCRs are cheaper than Quantative. and you are absolutely
right the way pricing is disclosed to consumers is a disgrace to say
the least. If I remember correctly the Quest TMA Qual. is around $300
and it is very sensitive as well.
