thanks for the info and God Bless you!
I am having in the morning 2 har boiled egges with 2 slices of gluten free bread and dairy free margarine made from olive oil. At lunch and in the evening I have 220 grms of either: steamed broccoli with home made mayo ( it absorbs heaps of mayo and you cannot even feel it). Or egg plant salad mixed with the 20ml of oil on toasted bread. Or cooked cabbage mixed with oil and tomato paste together with chicken breast or pork sausages.
What seems to work for me and to diminish the nausea is the complete avoidance of sugars and starches (no potatoes, carrots, bananas, etc)
I make sure that I take the tablets 3/4 through the meal and drink lots of water with it. So far so good, no digestive issues and no terrible nausea. I had some but somehow bearable. I am not taking any anti nausea tablets.
You can always have a little portion of gluten free pasta with cream and mushrooms.
I got really sick also on the incivik. I found in the morning, oatmeal with butter and heavy whipping cream and a little brown sugar went down okay and in the late night I had to finally resort tom 4 tbs whipping cream and some egg nog. That I could drink down so it was fast. I did all the cheeses and yogurts before but That got really old. Good luck. There is an end to this. Hang in there! The end is worth it. God Bless
Pooh thanks do the food ideas
And Aqua
I'm also doing a PBJ snndwich in the morning or for my afternoon dose with a glass of milk
You get 18 grams from Thr sandwich and 3 from the milk , also I found those little round Borden cheeses are 5 grams each so as a snack for my afternoon dose I'll do 2 or 3 of those and then make up the difference with something else
All the dairy is killing me but I guess it's what we need to do to get through this
first couple weeks i was eating ice cream...then i found out butter had 1o grams per tablespoon.....i started eating blueberry pancakes for breakfast with butter...and butter on toast ....butter on anything.....the drugs hit me hard so it must have worked.....its very important to take the incivek on time and don't miss any...i had a pill organizer....i took zofran for the gagging.....
I have 2 and some change left on inc. and for me sometimes the thought of even eating made me sick but I drank ensure chocolate with about a cup or more of milk with it to at least get all the nutrition I needed plus fat. I hope that kinda helps a little bit.
udo's oil? i'll check it out. thanks for imput
thanks, pooh. much needed info.
My husband's saving grace in the fat department was Flora's Truffle Bars that were infused with Udo's oil. They are incredibly good for you, probably the healthiest kind of fat you can get, and went down so easily. Especially toward the end of the first 12 weeks, when he was so sick of all food that he couldn't get anything down. And honestly, his skin never looked better! They can be pricey in the health food store, but several people here found them on Amazon for a decent price.
i agree with pooh about the greek gods yogurt. i added granola to it and slice bananas or blueberries. i had that for dinner quite often. it was good and filling. good luck to you. belle
For fat I often ate Greeks Gods yogurt. It has to be Greek Gods yogurt, not another kind, because Greek Gods yogurt has a lot more fat in it than the other types.
It tastes great, creamy, almost like smooth pudding. I usually ate some whole grain toast with it. It was quick and easy.
Cheddar cheese, Havarti Cheese, and some others have 20 grams of fat per 2 ounces. Read the label to see which ones have fat. Liver pate is high in fat as are brautwursts. 1 medium avocado will give you a lot of fat. Cream cheese is good too. Some soft cheeses like Brie contain fat, just read the label.
If you are nauseated, get a prescription for Zofran. I finally got one and it worked like a miracle. I should have had one 2 months before I actually got one. I took 8 mg every 8 hours for quite a while (months) and eventually did not need it any more.
ha, ha. i'm in the right state for medical pot. but through past experience i knoe i can't tolerate it. i doubled my water today-and at this moment i don't feel nauseated. a first in 9 days. thanks hepwarrior. great user name.
good info. thanks. just drinking more water today seems to have helped.
I am also on week 4 with incivek and RIBA and peg
And it *****
Seemed like I wasn't having effects besides being tired until yesterday It was like I got really hot and couldn't sleep and then today full blown Rage attack ...blew up on my wife over some nothing BS and I have been in and out of the rages all day
I will try some MJ for TE anger
And to AQUA
I have been so discusted with trying to get the 20 grams of Fat for the last few weeks and it also has been making me very nauseous BUT
Marijuana seems to work to bring back my appetite and helps relieve the nausea
I didnt smoke the stuff since maybe 2002
But when I starte thi therapy someone I know that went through the just the peg and RIBA said it really helped him and I gave it a shot and it worked
Made me laugh my *** off too but I guess it's a better side effect then the rest of this mess we find ourselves in
Good luck to all
I only know of two people who switched to Boceprevir at the 2 and 3 day point with Incivek. It was due to the rash and both were followed by a Hepatologist. It was somewhat of a calculated risk in both cases. I am not sure when exactly resistance kicks in or the extent if any those who have switched has been studied.

The fat requirement is gross but it is doable. It is weird how we are in a situation where we can eat all the fat we want and have absolutely no desire to do so because of the meds!
Hang in there!
thank you for the help. i will call my doctor tomorrow about zofran. i am eating drier foods too. today i went to the grocery store and thought i was going to pass out. sat on the floor. manager got me a chair and when i drank some water i felt better. thanks, again.
I have posted some ideas for the fat intake in my journal. These are some ideas that many of the members of this forum have offered. Here's the link:

There are quite a few who used the other protease inhibitor, but unfortunately I don't think one can normally change once treatment is started. The fat required with Incivek is very hard to take - even for those of us who used to love fatty foods. My best advice to you is to get an Rx for Zofran ASAP. If you are getting a lot of nausea at day 9 it is probably going to soon worsen and become vomiting (that was my pattern). It's really bad to skip the fat and really bad to vomit up the Incivek too, either one can result in less absorption of the drug and a resulting higher risk of viral mutation leading to breakthrough and being forced off treatment (of either kind). Zofran is an anti-nausea drug that was nothing short of miraculous for me. I went from being unable to keep anything down to actually feeling hungry and being able to eat just fine, and it happened within 15 - 20 minutes of putting that little pill on my tongue to dissolve.
The next advice is to search this site for high-fat food recommendations. You will find many! Personally, I found drier foods easier to take, so I tended to go with either breakfast pastries (croissants or doughnuts) or my own high-fat granola recipe for breakfast. Lunch was easiest, with a wide variety of prepared foods working (you'll never have a better excuse for eating Marie Callendar's pot pies). My evening fat was usually some dessert item. Others have many different ideas. Best wishes!
