Who are relapsers who are considering tx. agian

Hello Team
Noticed a post where the people treating for 72 weeks were keeping track of there tx.progress. I thought it might be interesting to do the same with people who have responded but relapesed. I relapsed at 3 months post tx. about a year ago and I am thinking of Tx. agian possibly in a study that will add a protease inhibiter to the standard cocktail. If people who are similar to me would like to give there info I will try to manage it. My best to all

I'd like to have another shot at treating with a protease inhibitor but have the 3 (or 4) drugs this time.  I would like to be given at least two months for clearing the virus, too.  Will I get the chance for such a thing as this??   That is doubtful any time soon.  I think that for somebody who is a chronic non-responder that they should be given higher doses and a longer period of time to clear than this new 4 weeks requirement.  I had a HUGE drop in my viral load, down from millions of copies to the 100's range, even w/o the Riba.  I am thinking that if I could retreat w/Peg-Intron, the Riba, a protease inhibitor and possibly even a polymerase inhibitor and if I was not given the requirement of having to clear it in 4 weeks, that by the 8 weeks marker, that with all of these things that I'd have a good chance at clearing it.  But, what do I know?  I'm just that patient.  I'm so frustrated that on 3 different times that I'd treated, I came SO close to clearing & these doctors in all their WISDOM, decide to stop me from reaching the clearing point.  If they would just let me continue to undetected and then, after that, allow me to continue for a full 72 weeks, I think that I'd be done with this darn virus once and for all.   ~~~~~

I did the treatment in 2004, 6months, geno 3, relapsed.  Was fibrosis 3 before treatment, now stage 2 and confirmed absolutely by 2 biopsies. (I thought that if they took a biopsy from one part of the liver it would be different from another part of the liver).
Im going to do the tx again, but I am waiting for a more friendlier one to come around, hopefully by the end of 2009, if not, then I will do the same one again on a higher dose for a longer time.

Yes I was on peg and ribo,   I had und week 12, during text, and stayed that way.
I was on 48 weeks,  Still UND at end.  Did my 6 month after tx.  Still SVR/UND.

At 9 months went in  PCR quantative and qualitive  was back.

Now I am on 9 infergen daily, 1000 ribo.    This is my third time txing.

also it should be noted, that when I started the peg, I had just survived  a head on collision, and had to ween my self from steroids while on tx, I do think it had something to do with it,

Yea that make sense you could have relapsed much sooner then.
My hepdoc said that more then 90% of them that relaps, do it within 8days post tx.
I´m gonna get my PCR done 3 m post tx so I don´t wanna hear about a lot of late relapsers. ty for answer, take care

I made the personal choice not to get tested until I had been off treatment for 6  months.  I knew that even  if I relapsed that I wasn't going to treat again until my body had some recovery time.  I could have tested 1 or 3 months post but it was my decision not to.

So in answer to your question, I had PCR's done during weeks 4, 12, 24 and end of treatment.  The 5 month post PCR was t he first one that I did after treatment.  It techinically was my 6  month post test but I did it a month early.

I relapsed at third month post tx (gono 1a stage 4) and am waiting for a trial that includes a protease inhibitor. In the meantime, I am now doing most of the HR and gauf anti fibrotic combo

I relapsed after 48 weeks of SOC (at 11 weeks post-tx) and am currently re-treating as part of the rollover trial with vx-950.  I'm on week 7 and have beeen UND since week 1 of triple-therapy.   The trial is only 24 weeks so I hope that's long enough for a sustained response...only time will tell!

Good luck to you!

Thanks for sharing. I just seen my gastro this week in San Diego He also is part of a medical research team which conducts various studies. He told me this week that they would be starting a study for naive patients soon and latter this year they will probably do a study for relapsers. I don"t have any info yet on the particulars. I just know they will be adding the third drug to the mix. So today I am trying to take action to get ready for another round agianst the dragon.
