i think alinia is being developed slowly (on purpose or who knows) but on hbv looks like the most interesting and potent drug
very very good thank you.
i am followed by a team of researchers and hepatologists in my country/usa and quite updated about therapies and big pharma speculation.
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2670405/
the result of tx is a mix of patients needs and rarely big pharma speculation, unfortunately between 2000 and 2005 there has been a lot of speculation with hbv with known wrong antivirals.many researchers knew that while pubblic didn't know.
on hcv virus there are very few tx so i guess there is no problem with this but follow HR advice, on hbv forum he saved a lot of patients from gettiing mutated/resistant hbv from wrong antivirals so it is important to be updated and filter the trials and results correctly
dragon, NEVER heard anything like that before---stefano- I used it 10 months and the sides were VERY mild, no discomfort at all, just some changes in stool jm
on hbv interferon is choosen rarely by patients because it has too many sides and very low potency, we use free sides antivirals which are more potent to suppress hbvdna and they are just a simple daily pil.
on 2005 romark tried 2 very old weak hbv antivirals that are not used anymore and they found synergism between antivirals and alinia and highest seroconvertion rates (not just hbvdna und).
my problem is there is yet no data available on potent antivirals used now (entecavir or tenofovir)...anyway alinia works similar to interferon but doesn't work on hbvdna while antivirals work only on hbvdna, so in theory there should be no interference with antivirals and synergism.
hbv and hcv are very very very different with nothing to compare so i would ask you only if you have tried alinia for 1 or 2 years and if any heavy sides have happened.
My hep doc is one of the best in the country he described alenia as a sponge that sucked up interferon. Not sure if you are on standard treatment or not. Might want to re think use if you are.
alinia was first found very active against hbv on hiv coinfected patients but trials has started on hcv because you need effective tx and probably you have also more market.
hbv has many antivirals and can be stopped in 100% cases easily with hbvdna undetactable but seroconvertion rates are very low so in most of the cases you have to take antivirals for life, this is why i am thinking about alinia and checking if it has any notable sides.
alinia is available at all pharmacies for diarrhea caused by Cryptosporidium and Giardia so that is no problem at all, at least in my country
alinia on hbv has the highest seroconversion rates at 1 year as monotx on hbe neg compared with all other tx.
it is confirmed that use with strong antivirals has even higher rates and one person used it with a very weak antiviral that is not used anymore (about 100 times less potent that antivirals used now) and which has 0% seroconversion rates.he combined it with alinia and seroconverted at 1 year.
i am on entecavir now, very strong antiviral with no sides, romark had planned trial with this but i dont know if it has started so if alinia has mild or no sides i am planning to start it at the end of the year.
alinia and generics are licenced for diarrhea caused by Cryptosporidium and Giardia, very cheap and available anywhere, use on hbv is off label
if you thinking of using with SOC , ie 48 /72 wks , why are you interested in 2 yrs use?
where do plan on geting alinia? is it licensed in the states
i do know people who have used it, without notable sides, but its not without risks
