P.S. a real big helper is ( a crawdaddy patten on the east walker ) and yous got to kiss your first golddie , and post it for us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I live at 4000ft. I was taking peg / riba tx at lundy lake, fishing at june lake loop , I am up and down every day from 3000ft to 10,000. you will be short of beafth a day . Your first night ,you may not sleep and some people get head aches. I have a cup of sleepy time tea and just relax.
I spent some time in Denver during tx. I was very anemic (around 9.1) and the altitude made it feel a lot worse. Plan extra time to do anything strenuous, like walking, and go easy on yourself. You may have to rest more often. Have a great time.
Have a great time , it's beautiful there this time of year ... & do post a pic of those illusive Golden Trout ... if you are not just fishing but catching also ! ;)
Go for it girl! Have a blast n post a pic! Sleep hard.. Karen
my hgb is 10.6. i've always been fine in the high altitude. this will be the first time during tx. thanks, belle
Of course I didn't know I had cirrhosis, but I spent a lot of time working in Denver and Montana off n on for years. I never could exercise there. When we lived in Idaho about 15 years ago, I didn't work. Just felt tired a lot and remember I was scared at how high my heart rate got when swimming or skiing. Ended up on a beta blocker...
I did go to NM n AZ in the year prior to diagnosis. I asked my Dr. for a beta blocker for a month prior to travel n i guess it helped w/ shortness of breath n heart racing. Maybe NOT the best advice tho. Wish he'd checked for hep c. I skiied n hiked and I was at least a s4/g4 cirrhosis.
What is your hgb? I really hope you can get out and play. Sounds like an awesome trip you have planned. I'd talk to dr. and give it my best shot... Karen :)
Going from Florida to 8-10,000 ft, I feel it immediately, even without Riba. But as sepctda said, a few day of adjustment should help, I haven't attempted it, but a low Hgb and high altitude could be challenging. Maybe others that have experienced this can cue in.
I exercise a lot and my health is good. I found that it took a few days adjustment for me to climb stairs without getting winded when I visited mammoth lakes (about 8000 ft) a month ago and I wasn't on tx at the time. How low is your hgb?
I'm sure that we are all different but I went to Reno last month and was very short of breath in the altitude and I was not anemic and Reno is only about 5000ft. I had to limit my activity the entire time I was there. Of course, it did not help to have to walk through a smoke-filled casino everywhere I went either. I hope that you can get away and enjoy.
