antibodies and PCV

I tested positive for both Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C antibodies.  An NGI HBV Ultraqual was negative with PCR amplification.
I wonder if it is necessary for an NGI with PCR to be done for Hepatitis C also or is the NGI HBV test going to show for both viruses.
I'm trying to discover if I have chronic active hepatitis B or C.  I understand these are the tests for that and were done by my doc but can't get an appointment with him until after Thanksgiving to get the test results.
Just FYI in case needed:  Heb B surface ab was 13.47 and HCV antivody was 9.8.  He did a LOT of tests - which one would tell me if chronic active disease is detected.

Thanks Dee.  I have just given it to the Lord.  I know He's got me :),.  We'll see what I hear at Thanksgiving.

Hello, Cor has given good advice.
I am sorry you have to wait so long to talk to the doctor.  That doesn't seem fair to me.  Can you call?..talk to him on the phone?
Good luck
Dee

You will need an HCV RNA PCR to determine if you actually have the HCV virus.  It is a separate test and an HBV test will not show if HCV RNA is present in your blood.

Sorry, don't know anything about HBV but there is an HBV forum you can ask questions on.
