I have upper right quadrant pain under rib cage (rt side). It radiates into back on rt side. Somedays I have no pain others a lot. I will not take anything for pain because of my condition. The pain is dull and somewhat feels like a bubble (hard to describe). Sometimes it is a burning sensation. Worse after meals (any meal). I have tried to cut out different foods for past year no luck. It has progressed over the last year.
Dr's say it is not my liver. I have had stomach emptying test and upper G
I scopes.... It has been suggested that it is muscular skeletal pain and or scar tissue from my gall bladder removed in 2005.
I read that "liver pain" is actually the lining stretching due to inflammation. This would almost make sense as to how I feel. Idk. Of course with no gall bladder I do my best to follow a low fat diet.

What is the pain you are experiencing? Someone with hepatitis C and very little liver damage should have no pain from hepatitis C. Most people who are infected have no symptoms at all. That is why most people with hepatitis C don't know they have it.
Freaking out is part of having hepatitis C. We have all freaked out at one time or another. I freak out still on a regular basis after 5 years of having hepatitis C and having more and more health problems because of the virus. We freak out and then we pick ourselves up and move forward. That is just how it is. In time you will get used to it. But the best thing is your chances of getting rid of this virus for good are very high. Yes, there will be trying times ahead but you can beat this thing and move on to live a normal, healthy, happy life. !!!
Take care.
Hector
Thank you so much for the information as well as the encouragement. This whole thing has completely devastated me and I feel as though my life been turned upside down.
Becase I experience pain I am afraid to wait for tx and am also wondering if something else is wrong or if they are missing something.. I have had sonograms and the 1 biopsy.
I am seriously freakn out and I shouldn't be so much but I am. Some days are better than ohers. Guess I should be thankful there is tx and I am finding this out early. It's just difficult. I am sorry because I know so many have it worse.
Sorry for the typos its late...
Cirrhosis is a "6" on the Ishak system. (That was the staging score used to assess the amount of liver damage you have). Cirrhosis is the final stage of liver disease that can be assessed using a biopsy. There are no "stages of cirrhosis" using any biopsy scoring method. Cirrhosis is stage 6 on the Ishak score and stage 4 on Metavir score. Metavir is the score used to evaluate biopsies for persons with hepatitis C liver damage.

Your liver disease was assessed at a 2. You have minimal liver damage at this time. In fact since your liver damage is only beginning you could wait for future treatments if you desired. It usually takes from 20-40 years for liver damage to progress to cirrhosis.
Ishak METAVIR Score
Fibrosis: 0-6 Fibrosis: F 0-4
0 0
1-2 1
3 2
4-5 3 - Bridging fibrosis
6 4 - Cirrhosis
Your fibrosis score on the Metavir score is F1, meaning very little liver damage.

Stages of Disease Progression
The usual progression is from inflammation to fibrosis to cirrhosis. Cirrhosis can progress to End-Stage Liver Disease (ESLD) and/or liver cancer.
Inflammation:
Inflammation is the body's normal response to injury or infection. Chronic inflammation can eventually cause scarring, which is called fibrosis.
Fibrosis
Fibrosis is scar tissue that forms as a result of chronic inflammation and/or liver cell death.
Cirrhosis:
When fibrosis becomes widespread and progresses to the point that the internal structure of the liver is abnormal, fibrosis has progresses to cirrhosis. Cirrhosis leads to a reduction in the blood supply to the liver. The loss of healthy liver tissue and blood supply can lead to abnormalities in liver function. People are usually surprised to learn you can have cirrhosis of the liver and not know it. The onset of cirrhosis is usually silent with few specific symptoms to signal its development. A patient may have cirrhosis for many years and not know it. Patients with cirrhosis of the liver may also develop liver cancer, an incurable cancer. As the cirrhosis progresses over time patients may experience complications of cirrhosis including the classic signs of End-Stage Liver Disease such as ascites, varices and hepatic encephalopathy. Which can eventually lead to liver failure.
Cheers!

"However, are these stages of cirrohsis? I'm not sure I understand this part yet."
No, your far from cirrhosis, so no worries there. Have no ideal about Mirena but OH knows what shes talking about......... Hang in there
I can tell you on the 0-4 scale, that 4 is cirrhosis. The scale is about fibrosis, 0 being none.
The only thing I can say about Mirena is I understand some people get depression from it, which would not make it a good choice with tx.
I don't know anything about deprovera.
