brain fog

hi, new to site - i have been off my meds for almost a month, still feel sometime surges of the medication. Is this normal. I have headaches and pain in my lower abdomen most of the time, but the worst is this brain fog.  I noticed the last couple of days, whenever  I stop at stop signs or red lights, i go several feet past the sign.  My brakes are fine.  Someone mentioned my perception could be off from the meds. Any thoughts - thanks

Pull over and get a nap. I'm still foggy, expecially this time of day. Sometimes I just nap before I leave to drive home. I've hit more curbs in the last year.... Hawk's ideas are perfect.

Hi I quit driving like Hawk did as I did not trust my perception. The first time I treated I had no choice but to drive.  This time I had a choice and my husband drove on the rare times I needed to go out.   I recently finished tx and started driving again however did not start up right away, I would say it took me about 6 weeks before I trusted myself to do more than run up to the local store..  I do not think a month is too long.
You will get better be very careful, good luck, err on the side of caution since you are noticing

I dont know how you can be feeling surges of medication........the interferon would be well out of your body by now as well as Inc or Boce and the riba should be waning.

I quit driving two weeks into tx due to my confusion.

For the first month after tx, I felt fairly run down and experienced brain fog. That was followed by gastro upsets. What helped was getting a good massage. I had her work on my abdominal area. You can do it yourself. Begin rubbing from under your left ribs down across the waist and up, in a circular motion.
Be aware of what your eating.

Last week, at 7 weeks post, I felt like a cloud had lifted. My mind is clearer, my body feels better and my attitude has improved.

Give it time, continue to drink lots of water, eat well, relax and be patient.
Best of luck.

I also was on triple treatment and I also have been off treatment for almost 30 days. I also have brain fog but I am starting to see some improvement but very little. I try to read and stay active to stay sharp as I can. I also hope that this clears up, it sometimes gets frustrating. Any little improvement is encouraging. I realize I was on the meds for 96 weeks so I need  to give my body and brain time to recoup. I am on meds again to clear uric acid that is causing gout in my knees and ankles side effects from meds. We have come a long way we just need to stay sharp and continue to be patient, take care

Greetings and welcome to the forum! Which meds were you taking? The Peg and the Riba or a protease inhibitor as well? And more importantly, did you clear the virus?  :)

Thirty days is not very long to be off the Peg & Riba. The last time I treated I did not notice I had normal thoughts and did not feel funky was a good six months after I treated. Don't get me wrong since I felt better and better every day. The brain fog wore off in about two months. I felt OK driving and I trusted my judgement almost immediately so I am not sure about your ability to judge distance or focus ..or whatever the side effect you may possibly be experiencing that make you over shoot a stop light.

When I say six months I mean that is how long before I realized I was truly going to be OK and the meds did not totally mess me up.

As I said though, it depends on your individual circumstances and which meds you were taking. Still 30 days is pretty fresh out of treatment.

I hope you feel better.
