I relapsed as a G3 (and obtained SVR some years later). My ALT/AST went higher than it ever had during the relapse, but was back to my normal (which was normal in those days) pretty quickly. The process happened within 2-3 months EOT then I stabilised. I wasn't sick, didn't feel it and my Dr explained that it was the virus re-establishing itself. The break that my liver had during tx, outweighed beneficially any stress that may have happened during the short re-establishment period. My Dr told me not to worry about it, so I didn't - I carried on being as 'liver-healthy' as I could, and built my health back up, while waiting for my next opportunity to treat. It did take a while for me to feel better after the tx, but in those days (1993) I didn't have as many resources (this forum included) to stay liver-healthy. Wishing you the best.
Hi I am so sorry someone would tell you that after you relapsed, that does not sound like a very good friend.
I do not believe that to be true however someone else with more knowledge than I will be a long to answer this.
I relapsed the first time I treated and while I did get very sick initially with the virus going from 0 to 4 million in 6 weeks, no one said anything about it doing more damage when it returned than when I had it in the first place.
Try to rest, recover from the tx and relapse, get back your health and try again. I would do a lot of research if I were you
Good luck
Dee
