cut off value confuse

can somebody pls explain what is cut off value mean on anti-HCV test
RESULT:Negative
PATIENT COUNT : 0.109
CUT-OFF VALYE : 1.000
if im negative why there is 0.109  what does the patient count means?can anybody answer this thank you

Hi.

Having a low s/co (signal to cut off) value is normal. Anything <1 is considered non-reactive or Negative for HCV.

Your count being  .1  means  you do not have HCV  .hence the result reads Negative on your lab report.

I have linked(below) an article that may explain   the "antibodies" test for you.

Again you do not have HCV and no further testing or action needs to be taken..

Signal-to-cut–off ratios are calculated by dividing the optical density (OD) value of the sample being tested by the OD value of the assay cut-off for that run. Analysis of enzyme immunoassay and chemiluminescence assay data indicates that s/co ratios can be used to predict supplemental test-positive results. A specific s/co ratio can be identified for each test that would predict a true antibody-positive result (as defined by the results of supplemental testing) ≥95% of the time, regardless of the anti-HCV prevalence or characteristics of the population being tested.
