Actually, i didn't tell the entire story. My husband started tx last week. Hopefully, we will be ending around the same time. He is very grouchy and short tempered. I can't get him to take any kind of AD's. We have the same doctor and I told him how irritable he was. I'm hoping he talks him into the ADs.
I fear it's going to be a long 6 months. Well, it will give me something else to think about instead of focusing on myself.
I can't handle stress these days on tx. I've raged a couple of times, but seems to help to keep something on my stomach, something for my energy to chew on besides my nerves.
yuk..sorry to hear you're husband isn't taking tx too well. I'm very concerned about mine because after all, he is the center of the universe. He's been great so far, but its early yet.
It seems like too that all that can go wrong while your on TX...it will,,,its like when your down and weak....they kick you in the face
yes, my husband is mean and emotional and i'm the one on TX.
I found that everything was ok well into TX until i loos my job...then the stress hit me...for me its not so much the drugs...it what happens while on them...its just all the bull you have to deal with...its a hassle this tx....its a roller coaster of emotions...stuff like ...didi i miss my dose??,,,did i get the shot in??/....aam i goona miss work...all these worrys can add up....its bad enff finding out you have this disease...but to worry about the TX and stuff on top is no fun....BUT AS THAT SAY.....ITS DOABLE
If you are on treatment, the interferon has 2 possible mood effects: irritablity (anger) and depression. It may depend on who you are as to which one you'll exhibit.
Can make you mean as a snake, with horrible words falling drectly from your thoughts down onto your tongue and you just have to spit it out. If you look at the label, interferon says it has the possibility for suicidal tendencies and/or homicidal tendencies. There have been cases of rage.
Terrible side effect of interferon, but it's the main weapon in the arsenal and can't be avoided for treating hep c.
Antidepressants and anxiety meds work against the anger. May take a while to find the right one for you. People can manage treatment without them but it takes a monumental effort. If you work with the public or have sensitive family or freinds, it's probably better to take the mood meds during treatment. You can't scream at those you love and be guaranteed that they won't hold it against you later.
Yes! I cry over old sit com reruns (or maybe because I'm watching old sit com reruns) and sometimes I tell the cats to just leave me alone (that's very mean for me). Especially at the beginning it seemed like all of my emotions were very, very close to the surface. Over time it kind of mellowed out. I think this is common during treatment.
Not so much mean, but definitely the roller coaster of emotions on and off....more off now after adding a low dose of Celexa. Panic/anxiety attacks were the scariest because they struck out of no where.
I used to think I was becoming less tolerant and more anger-prone, but I really think it's because I don't put up with the bull$hit anymore...life is too precious.......
Lord, yes! Xanax has helped me be on a more even keel. Best to you and welcome.
welcome ,by the way . Im glad you chose this site .I have to echo what marc says , if you are on Interferon & ribavirin ,its relentless ! Its MY worst symptom ,to deal with . anger ,short temper . but there are ways to lesson it . what treatment drugs are you using ? if any ? bob
Vern – Perhaps you could give us a little more information. Are you in treatment for Hep C? If the answer is yes, there is no question that many of us experience the things you are talking about. If you are not in treatment for Hep C, it seems unlikely that these symptoms are related to this illness.
