I asked my study Dr about energy drinks last week. She said do not drink them as the additives in the drinks are not good for liver function. She indicated coffee drinks high in caffeine would much more tolerated by the liver. Not to mention the crash would not be as bad.
he is pretty tired a lot, but he has drank energy drinks for a couple years now. He hasn't tried not drinking them yet. I didn't know if the stuff in them was easily broken down by his liver, or if they are making his liver work harder.
questions, if he does not take the energy drinks, is he still as tired?
energy drinks can be high in sugar. depending on which ones he drinks. not so sure if they are bad on the liver, but anyone that takes in sugar for energy will see a constant lowering of energy levels as the day goes on. the same is true with candy bars, simple pasta, etc. anything that has a great deal of simple carbohydrates in it.
if he is using those that have a high amount of caffeen, the same thing can happen. the tiredness in the afternoon can be his body reacting to whatever stimulant has worn away.
having said this, has he been to a doctor and been checked for diabetes or thyroid problems.
