My dr always said ibuprofen but who knows,,,as long as you don't go over the amount of either, you should be fine. I only took for sides when I really needed.
Linda,,,I hear you on getting so worked up over that first shot! I was at the drs office and they could not believe how high my blood pressure was before that injection. lol My first shot night was the worse for me and after that it was pretty much smooth sailing with a few bumps here and there!
Good Luck to both of you on beginning your tx!
I do my injections on Thursday nights as well. Weird as it is, I look forward to each shot cause it brings me closer to the end. I am genotype 3. I did not have a bx but my doctor is confident that I don't have any liver damage since all of my lab results have been in the normal range. He said something somewhere would have jumped out of range. I know there are those who disagree with that assumption. He gave me the option of getting a bx but I didn't want to hold up starting tx.
I'll be thinking of you on Thursday night!
What is your genotype?
Linda
I have been told to take aleve before the shot and the next morning. If I need anything else during the week I can take 4 extra trenth tylenol within a 24 hour period.
im on shot 5 1a, 2-2 my dr said 2 extra strength tylenol and a benadryl...one hour prior.....and i have no problems with the shot at all..
Good luck on you first shot...congrates
I do take Tylenol, but it never worked that well for me. Because my platelets are low, and Tylenol doesn't work well for me, my doc recommends Advil. He said to stay away from Aleve because of my platelet count.
I don't have cirrosis tho, so your doc might be a different recommendation for you.
Sometimes, you may have to call a chaotic office (like your doctor's office) and INSIST that you need an answer. You deserve to know what you need to do before you begin tx and if you have to get a little "persuasive" with the receptionist, then do so. Tell her that your message to him is probably sitting in a pile on his desk and she needs to HAND GIVE it to him because you NEED TO KNOW. I hate it when we can't get past the receptionist!
Somebody here once suggested going to their waiting room and sitting there in your pajamas. That should get their attention. LOL
Best of luck to you tomorrow! We'll take our shot at the same time!!
((Huge Hugs))
