Is this being done prior to treatment? Some years ago my friend was very ill on her meds and almost died. I watched her start to deteriorate. I am a medical professional and  genotyping has been studied for a number of years.

Hi when I first saw your question, I thought you had just been dx and you were new.  I see you have been a member for a couple of years
If I were you I would start over, introduce yourself, tell us what geno type you have, what condition your liver is in and ask for help

How are you?  Is your liver damaged yet? Have you had a biopsy?

Also if treatment cures them they wouldn't have a genotype left to be identified.

Well of course. How else would they know what treatment to give people?

There are different treatment regimens for the different Genotypes.

Since the treatment regimen depends on a person's Genotype, one must be Genotyped prior to treating.

So, to answer your question, yes people are being Genotyped prior to treatment.
