Are you taking any other medications? Maybe a daily aspirin? I think I have read that ibuprofen can cause easy bruising too. Is the doctor giving you anything for your low hgb?

Hang in there.

OK gotcha. I am always walking into stuff.  Sometimes doorways just aren't wide enough. I'm not a wide FLGuy, just a clumsy one.  Be careful out there.

Hi, I
wanted to say that I get bruises not where I shot the medicine but if I bang myself just a little I get  a big bruise.
Thanks for your answer.

Wow 96 weeks seems like a long time but it worked, when did you clear the virus the second time around.
Take care as well.

You can use thighs and abs for shot targets. I found that there was less bruising in the abs. Also, if you can find someone to shoot you the back of your arms, below the shoulder, are another couple of spots. It's OK to spread the shots around available places.

I treated for 56 weeks initially, but relapsed. Second time around was 96 weeks, for a total of 152 weeks; but that was spread over roughly four years. Luckily for me, I tolerated therapy pretty well, and didn’t have too much to complain about. Still glad it’s over though, and that I was eventually successful :o).

We arrived at 56 weeks because there was a paper that described a computer derived algorithm suggesting 36 weeks of therapy *beyond* the point we became undetectable for virus was optimal. That initial treatment, I didn’t become undetectable until week twenty. It was considered cutting edge info at the time; I don’t think it holds much water any longer though.

Take care and good luck—

Thanks Bill
Yes I am treating till week 72. You treated how many weeks, was it 52 I think I remember why? That seems like a bizarre number.

Prolific bruising is often associated with low platelets; you might ask your doctor to verify platelets at 110k; that should be more than sufficient to avoid trouble. We have cirrhotics in here with platelets at 40-50k with no significant issues.

Are you treating on to 72 weeks?

Good luck—
