one item besides hyper- thyroid which can develop would be to make sure you don't overhydrate.
We all know they make a big deal about ataying hydrated, but some docs recommend too much.  1 liter per 100  lbs is plenty, and may be too much depending on what other fluids you drink.

another thing is sometimes milk and other items can effect you differently on tx. Your bowel may become inflamed and sensitive where it was not before. therefore you may need to rule out any contributor such as milk or wheat by withholding one thing at a time for a few days to see if that clears you.
also asking for your calcium and potassium, magnesium levels is important, especially if the diarrea has gone on a while. I recommend people buy water with electrolyetes added, because they lose these essential minerals so easily with tx, and all the hydrating.

2 words to look up and study, in here and elsewhere...probotic, and prebotics...
the way to keep your colon on an even keel is to learn how to eat in ways that balance out and maintain a healthy bacteria colony in your intestines, These friendly bacteria help digest your food. Antibiotics can destroy them, but there are ways, like using active yogurt culture, to restore them.

If you have never had a colonoscopy it would be a good time to consider having one.
Many folks have considerable ulceration by middle age caused by their diet. These irriritated areas are what cause a lot of gas and diarrea. Whether it is simple diverticulitis or something more serious (as hepatitis can cause several digestive anomalies), there's really no way to know for certain about several of these conditions without doing the procedures, both ends, endoscopy for the stomach and upper duodenum, and peek a boo at the other end as well.
Many insurances allow for regular screening of these now, and most certainly if you are a HCV patient you should get checked out.

Dear cindy
It is common side effect of tx. i can understand your sitution because i m facing the same situation since start of tx. it remained very bad for first 2 weaks. I dont have so frequent stools (only for one time in 24 hours) but  loose stools. i took Despas with Dr advice. And also used self hyponosis as my diarrhoea is tension related. I try every time to keep myself relax and and it helps me. Whenevery i get tension or depression the symptoms get worst. So i have to live happily andn with out tension.

JUST GOT TO DR. I HOPE HE WILL HELP YOU.

Hi Cindy,
This has happened to me intermittantly since early in tx.  I try to keep my foods alkaline with no salt or spices.

After one particularly bad few days I ended up with an 'anal fissure'  (more than you need to know lol!!!), but had to get cortisone cream and religously use it.... just another sx to be aware of but better prevention than cure on that one!!!    I kept my water levels and vitamins and eating up and it has abated  (I've cut down a little on the spinach, juices and beans - seems to have helped but I'm not holding my breath)....

I also wonder whether it may also be thyroid related (when not on tx I usually have the exact opposite happen!!)...   Good luck.

Oh the famous hershey squirts, very common on tx. Just don't let yourself get dehydrated and have your doctor check your potassium levels. As for seeing your doctor sooner might give him a call. Maybe he can give you something to help you out.

While i was on tx i always stayed close to the restroom.

Wishing you the best
