None of us are doctors in here; and I’m far from capable of providing expert advice. I believe while Procrit might provide temporary relief from anemia, it won’t resolve the root cause. This is an issue that should be thoroughly discussed with you’re mom’s doctor; if the doctor is unclear why he/she is prescribing a drug, have her elaborate until it’s understood.
I wish your mom and your family well—

there might be a difference between pernicious anemia and hemolytic anemia which is what we are usually prescribed when the intereferon causes the rbc to lyse prematurely. if your mother was adviced from a credible source, then maybe consider giving it a try.
good luck
Thank you. Yes her B12 is her problem. Her immune system is not absorbing the B12. So she has been advised to get B12 shots monthly plus have the drug Ferrlecit administered by IV. Of course everyone in the family has become a Doctor and are suggesting other methods.
Thank you for the website.
If you're referring ro pernicious anemia, I believe it's managed with folate (vitamin B-12).
