Yes, I go to my new hepatologist in September and hope to hear some encouraging news about treatment.  So far, the all oral looks good but it's not available yet.  Hope we both get successful treatments.

You are 100% correct Barry. Betsy will not be able to treat with the Gilead treatment that will most likely be available in early 2014 it is ONLY for treatment naive genotype 1s. NOT people that have previously treated their hepatitis C and failed treatment. The therapy consists of Sofosbuvir, peg-INF, and Ribavirin. So it is not all oral therapy either.
Only for genotypes 2/3 with treat be will all oral drugs without peg-interferon. Sofosbuvir and Ribavirin.

For treatment experienced genotype 1s they will have to wait for all oral therapy that may be available later in 2014 or 2015. It includes Sofosbuvir, Ledipasvir and ribavirin.

I am not familiar personally with simeprivir and its combo but have heard some good things about it.

Thanks for setting the record straight Barry as I read a lot of post about Gilead's treatments that are incorrect or misleading giving some people false hope of new treatments for all genotype 1s soon.

Take care.

Didn't work for me either. Go back to doctors in September. I am also hoping that the new treatments will be available or at least around the corner. So sorry that it didn't work for you. I send my best to you and good luck.

I have been reading about those trails. Hopefully by October when I go back to Dr the will he approved. I did the triple therapy had tried just interferon and ribopak in2003 knew my genotype was hard to treat hope we both get a cure or remission.

I was taking interferon incivek ribopak genotype 1. I am at stage 3 bridging fibrosis. Have some old scarring no new.  It is devastating. But I knew the odds when I started the treatment. I have had hep c for 29 years and only stared getting sick a year and a half ago.

I am very sorry that treatment did not work for you. I know it is very devastating.

If you can tell us a little more about your Genotype, your liver fibrosis stage, and the treatment drugs you were on, we may be able to offer more informative and accurate responses about new treatments on the horizon.

Betsey, I am so very sorry, I know there have been a few people.  I will try to find them or perhaps they will find you.
I am so very very sorry

Hi Betsy,

I'm sorry to hear you have the virus back.  It sounds like you may have relapsed.

I relapsed a couple of months too after 48 weeks of interferon and ribavirin in Jan 2012.  I am waiting for Gilead's non interferon all oral treatment which is now in phase 3 clinical trials. It is claiming 100% cure rate with Sofosbuvir, Ledipasvir and ribavirin combo. This article discusses it.
