Any blood product used before the screen for HCV developed in the late 80s could possibly be the source. I don't know of any way to determine the exact source or prove it.
I came across your post on the former topic "how to prove Hep c". I have been wondering as to how I could have aquired this virus, and you mentioned gammu globulin and Rhogam! I about fell off my chair! I had both of these meds administered after a pregnancy as I am RH negative and both were in the 70's, the last time was Rhogam in 1979! I also followed up with the post's from Dr. D. I am currently waiting to find out more about my status with Hep C, but am wondering if there is anyway that doctors can tell how long you have been harboring the virus. In the scheme of things I realize it is not really important how you got Hep C, just that you have it but a person can't help but wonder.
thanks,
LD
Hepatitis C is definitely dangerous to our health. It attacks the liver and slowly kills it off. It is called the silent killer and if unattended can progress to cancer of the liver.
