Hi

I don't know any test in the 500 range. You should request copies of your lab results. I can even begin to make a guess with that information.

You said you were having symptoms what kind of symptoms are you having?

Have you just had the hep c antibody test or the HCV DNA test?

Please let us know more and will be glad to try to help.

First of I am a female and a mechanic not a doctor.

Your HCV NS by PCR is negative therefor you do NOT have hep C

"plz tell me that my liver is normal or abnormal?"
I have no idea I fix machines

There are no doctors here

"doctor say me you should not worry and you have not hep c."

I recommend you believe you doctor who is a medical professional.

We are patients who have been dealing with hep c for many years, some are still working at many different jobs, some are disabled from hep c and advanced liver disease but not of us are medical professionals.

For medical questions ask your doctor.

I tried to clean up what you posted. Here is my best guess what the report says:

protein total     10/23/14 ( 7.7)          10/19/14 (6.9)

albumin             10/23/14 (4.20)         10/19/14 (3.60)

bili total             10/23/14 (0.7)           10/19/14 (0.5)

bili direct           10/23/14 (0.4)

alk phos            10/23/14 (H157)       10/19/14 (H118)

AST                    10/23/14 (H490)       10/19/14 (H395)

ALT                     10/23/14 (H806)       10/19/14

So that part looks like you have elevated levels of:

Alk Phos (alkaline phosphatase) my labs (which could be different from you labs for reference range) say normal range is 39-117. Your lab on 10/23/14 lists 157

AST (a liver enzyme called Aspartate Aminotransferase) My lab calls normal 0-50. Your lab on 10/23/14 lists 490

ALT (a liver enzyme called Alanine Aminotransferase) My lab calls normal less than 33. Your lab on 10/23/14 lists 890.

"and on the paper it has Hep C Ab.....Reactive"

That looks like the test for the hepatitis C antibody but not the test for the virus itself. If you test positive for the antibody it only means been exposed to the virus in the past. However, about 15 to 25 percent of people who are initially infected with the virus are able to clear the virus from their bodies, usually within six months of exposure. The next step is to look for the actual virus in the bloodstream, using a test called HCV RNA.

It does not look like so far you have had a viral load HVC RNA test from what you have listed. From this information you may not be currently infected with hepatitis C.

Even if you test positive for hep c antibodies that does not necessarily mean you are currently infected with hepatitis c. Only if you have a positive result on the HCV RNA test.

What kind of doctor are you seeing? Some doctors know more about hepatitis C than others.

Here is a link called Hep C: The Basics hope it helps

Good luck to you

Question.. I just found out I have hep c Geno 3 guesstimating 5 or 6 years because I am chronic and started treatment .. My husband and I have been together around 12 years.. The reason I got checked was a reliable family member told me he had it and never told me and was shocked he never shared this with me well he shared it but never admitted til about a week ago we have been split up on and off for the last 3 years.. So I just spoke with him last week.. So now I am estimating he's had it about 15- 17 years so we should be same type? And if they found stones in my liver what type of damage could be wrong with him? I guess now that I got I am sorry he never thought he would pass it to me.. And he didn't purposely give it to me lifted a 1000 lbs off my shoulders and lifted so much hurt and anger.. I know it sounds probably stupid but I am worried how bad it could be for him I told him he needed to get checked right away or am I overreacting on his behalf ....

Welcome to the forum.  If you've  been told that you have Genotype 1 then you have Hepatitis C.  You don't just have the antibodies.  You can't have an genotype without having Hepatitis C.  Genotype 1 is a strain of the Hepatitis C virus.

Best to you

I wonder if mabie I only have antibodies but I'm soo confused cuz they don't say anything except bloodwork perfect. Theve joked better than people without hep c. Ya. I'm stumped

Great job group!

For a reference for you here is my Liver function test from before I started treatment so you can see what kind of numbers you might see. None of these tests have a range of 500 so that is why I am not sure what test you have had. But different labs may use different standard ranges.

Just to note the test for the hep c virus called HCV DNA by PCR takes several days to come back mine take about a week so again not sure what tests you may have had. Some doctors are not knowledgable about testing for hep c and may say you have hep c when you only have the antibodies.

But given you have elevated liver enzymes a liver specialist is who you see to get this sorted out.

I have had hep c for 36 years and was diagnosed with cirrhosis in Jan 2008 and I am still going strong. In general you can live a long time with hep c and liver problems. It's  best to be treated but no need to panic.

Some questions to ask your doctor...

Do I need to be vaccinated for hepatitis A and hepatitis B?

What is my genotype? What does my genotype mean?

Do I have liver damage? If so, how much liver damage is there?

What are my treatment options?

Is there one treatment you think is best for me?

Are there any clinical trials?

What are the benefits of each treatment option?

What are the potential risks of each treatment option?

How can I protect the people around me from hepatitis C?

Do I need to start treatment for hepatitis C now?

How will this treatment interact with my other medications?

How will you assess whether the treatment is working for me?

What should I do if I have side effects? How can I manage the side effects?

What are symptoms to pay attention to and look out for?

How likely is it that I will develop cirrhosis or liver cancer?

If I do not start treatment now, how often should my liver be monitored for liver damage?

How often should I see a liver specialist? Primary care physician?

I would make a copy of this list and hand it to your doctor.  Ask him to write down your genotype and viral load.

Meemee:  What they said!  Also, welcome to the Forum!  You will find wonderful, supportive, caring, knowledgeable people here, to help guide you through this, and be with you every step of the way.

Never has the treatment been so short (generally 12 - 24 weeks, at most)  and side effects (sides or sx) free - or, at least, mainly mild for most people.  Also, the meds, while very expensive, are available with help from the companies who developed them or from Foundations set up to help - if you are under the income limit (most people), and your insurance doesn't cover it all OR if you don't have ins.

To repeat what Lynn and DWBH said, please sign The Release of Information Forms for Hospital, your family doctor and the hepa specialist, so you can get copies of ALL of your Lab Work.  Then, with the info you get from that, people on the Forum can help you make sense of it all, and make good treatment decision, when the time comes!

DWBH will find the list of questions so you can be comfortable knowing that you will get as much information from your doctor as you can.

So again, welcome to the Forum, deep breath, exhale, and relax and take it one step at a time.  You will get there and get over this disease!

Pat

Welcome to the forum.  Take a deep breath... there is treatment for Hepatitis C. Go to the appointment on 1/9 and ask for a copy of all blood work being done.   We can't give you much information with what you have told us.  I'm
going to go find you a link to the questions you need to ask the liver doctor.
You are going in the right direction by going on 1/9.   I will find the list of questions for you.   The key to Hepatitis C is educating yourself so you can have a better understanding what's going on.   It will take you going to the doctor, asking questions and letting us help you understand that information.

You can do this

Count being really high that's where the numbers I got came
In she asked if I had a family doctor and I needed to go
See her Asap and let her do more blood work but it felt like I
Had the flu couldn't sleep I was already taking meds for Depression
And to help me sleep had been for about 20 years or
More in the last months I've lost lot of weight went from size 24 down to
14.. I and a few weeks before I went to the ER I was at my
Doctor telling her something was wrong I'm having trouble remembering
Things and  concentrating and the mood swings but we thought it all had to do with   they diagnose me but when I took her the paper work from the ER
