LFTs and damage of liver

If my LFTs have always been in the high normal range does that mean i have very little liver damage?
I have never had a biopsy. My doc said i didnt need a biopsy b4 tx,cos of my LFTs... cos he thought they were good enough to just skip the biopsy and cos im geno 3a.Im a lil worried about my liver damage even though my LFTs are fine.

thank you copyman,i thought that was the case but its nice to get oppinions of others to reassure myself.
I have drank alot in my teens and i just cant imagine there being no damage at all.I have a few wks of tx left and if i dont svr then i will definitly get a biopsy,if i had of known all this info b4 tx i would have definitly got a biopsy b4 starting tx,i feel like im so tired all the time that i must have liver damage, plus its aches now and then from being inflamed id guess.
anyway thanks again m8.

a good doctor should know that LFT's have nothing to do with liver damage. having nornal LFt's are good but not an indication of liver damage. it can be used along with other tests to get an idea of damage but the biopsy is the only way to get a definitive answer. Good luck
