Low neutrophils

Does anyone have  info on the neupogen shot? Have you had to have the injections due to low neutrophils from HepC treatement? Do  yiu usually have to continue the shots for the remainder of tx or do they go back up and stay there???

I had to take a few series of it when my ANC dropped extremely low during TX.  The good news is that unlike Procrit (Epogen Alpha), which can take anywhere from 3-6 weeks to measure it's effectiveness, Neupogen is fast acting and impact can be seen in a few days.

For myself, numbers returned to normal, or near normal, but then did drop down again.  However, the drop was to the bearable low I had experienced throughout most of TX.

Hopefully you are like myself, and many others, which only requires an occassional boast when ANC dips to new lows rather than those who need to take it throughout TX to maintain ANC at acceptable levels.

I had to take 3 or 4 shots. My ANC went back up and I was fine without it for the rest of my treatment.

I have been taking one injection per week for the past three weeks. I will probably remain on the neupogen throughout tx since my anc (absolute neutrophil count) went to 280 (.28) at 6 weeks. A lot of people have used neupogen in the past or are using it currenty.
how low is your anc?
