Elevated liver enzymes.

I am currently in my 20th week of treatment with incivek the first 12 weeks.  My enzymes before starting treatment were:  ALT-196 and AST-294.  My enzymes dropped progressively to a low last month of:  ALT-127 and AST-162.  This month they went back up:  ALT-170 and AST-195.  I am concerned and wonder if others have had similar experiences or can provide me with some insight into what might be the cause.

Thanks to all.   I see my doc next Tuesday and will ask again.  The last time I saw him, he just kind of shook his head about the enzymes, but didn't have an answer.  That won't wash this week.  I need more info.  My AST had been much higher before treatment, so whatever it is now is better.  Thanks again.  Garry

Hey - I feel your pain about your high liver enzymes.  I have been supposedly undetected since week 4, but my enzymes were high before treatment about 2x, and since I've been on treatment they've gone up to approx 3x normal range. Last cbc showed alt 133 and ast 100 and it's been here give or take 5 percent.  My Dr. did run the autoimmune hepatitis test and they came back negative.  Your's are a little higher than mine. Even though everyone says there is some fluctuation with liver enzymes, I wouldn't be afraid to get your Dr to run additional tests. Good luck

Hello there! Jules had a good answer.  I also remember when I treated my enzymes would go up and down.  I was told by my doctor that it is normal during tx and that once I was done they would normalize, they did
Have you asked your doctor about it? Is he concerned?
Good luck
Congratulations for finishing Incivek, that is the bear portion of the tx :)

Has your Dr ever run tests for autoimmune diseases and also checked your iron levels.  I am having the same problems.  Mine are around the 150 levels.  They think either the INF or the iron is causing the problems.
