I apologize for posting about riba rage. I meant it in a joking way and I am sorry for being insensitive.   It is sometimes a side affect of tx which may make a person more emotional than normal.  It is definitely contriollable. For me it is more of an anxiety reaction or whining because I don't get my way right now. I have always been quick tempered person but I have learned to control it and laugh about it rather than get upset about it. Laughing about it helps me to control it as well as keeping  positive thoughts.  I have to do this one day at a time and that works for me.

I hope you are able to follow Trinity's advice. .  The very best to you and again I am sorry for the post.  Jennifer

No, you are not understanding correctly.  One reason endoscopy is given is to see if you have varices in the stomach, it doesn't mean you will be denied treatment.  It is a useful test to look at the stomach and surrounding organs to make sure they are within normal parameters.
Genotype identifies which strain of hepc we have.  For instance, I am a 1a.
Genotype 1 & 4 treat for a minimum of 48 wks.  Genotype 2 & 3 treat for a minimum of 24 wks.  Everyone's genotype has to be indentified prior to treatment.
Yes, get the biopsy done.  It is the only accurate way to determine the condition of your liver.  Here is a website that will give you excellent information about all aspects and treatment of hepc.

Okay; I'm at a loss here. I'm going to make an appointment ASAP with a new doctor.
I'm going to get knowledgeable quick on this.
I'm sorry I don;t understand all this.
So I need to know my GENOTYPE.
Get My Biopsy done.
If my endoscopy shows enlarged veins then I can't get the new treatment, correct? It will hurt my liver?
Thanks Trinity!

Doesn't appear your doctor is giving you correct information.  You may want to find a good liver specialist and start over.
Firstly, they will need to do addtional blood tests to determine what genoytpe you are and what your viral load is.  Genotype determines length of treatment.
You need a liver biopsy to determine the the condition of your liver.  Hepc causes fibrosis of the liver which left untreated can develop into cirrhosis.
I had an endoscopy done to determine if any of my other organs were effected.  If there are enlarged veins in the stomach called varices an endoscopy will detect this.
Your doctor does not know without a biopsy whether the medications will not be good for you.  People with advanced cirrhosis are advised not to treat because it can cause additional injury to the liver.  Some doctors will not treat patients with a history of bi-polar illness or depression because current treatment can cause those conditons to worsen, especially depression.  Medications are available which can be taken before treatment to control those conditions.
If you are a genotype 1, you have approx a 40% chance of clearing the virus.  Some say 50% -  I'm more conservative.   Genotype 2 & 3 have a higher percentage, but I can't recall that figure right now.  Perhaps your doctor is basing his opinion on those percentages, but he can't make the statement it won't work for you unless he can back it up with something other than wait for new medications.  Yes, there are people in trial studies using new and current drugs combined and the outcome looks very promising but the new drugs will not be available for several more years and you may not be able to wait for them, depending on the degree of liver damage.  It's important to go through each process I have mentioned above to determine whether current treatment is for you or if you have time to wait for new drugs.  You may want to consider a trial as well.  My last piece of advise -  GET A NEW DOCTOR.  Good Luck on your journey.

You have questions posted all over the place, which is okay ... just try reading all the answers and then see what questions you have left.

Your biopsy results will tell you what liver damage you have and you should ask your doctors to explain why the drugs will not help you.  I'm very curious about a statement like that and why they think so when you haven't had a biopsy yet.

Ask your doctors what your genotype is and what your viral load is.  All of us with Hepatitis C have a particular strain of it called a genotype.  The most common in North America is Genotype 1 and while it is the hardest to treat, the cure rate is 40 - 50% so treatment can work to cure Hep C.   Wait for your test results, start reading through the forum and the answers you've gotten to your questions and keep on educating yourself.

I've been scanning the pages and I'm confused. Does Hepatitis C cause rage?
I'm just diagnosed this past week. Doctors told me I need a biopsy and other invasive tests. I was told the meds out there will not help me and there is little or no chance until new meds come out soon. Then my chances will be very good. Still They want to biopsy my liver, look down my thoat, take more blood tests and do 15 other things.
Why are prople getting results with the meds but doctors say they are not going to be good for me?
I feel very sick sometimes and have what seems to be arthritic pains, nausea, and recently I've been very weak. Being super weak was what took me to the doctor for a full physical. I'm in shape, I don't drink or smoke, I excercise everyday even with the pain I have. What gives? I just don't understand?

A disease where you get an indescribable urge to jump into a small plane and crash it into a target after having ingested the drink FlGuy described. Kind of a combination of the info provided by Trinity and FlGuy...

Prevention is to stay away from small planes and the drink.

LOL, I wondered which way you'd go with that.  It took me a minute to recall that Kamikaze was a drink, and so was s.o.t.b....I was more of a beer girl myself.  Made fishing a lot more fun.

In World War II, the young Japanese suicide pilots were called
Kamikaze, as they 'flew' on the wind on the devine mission of destroying their enemy with the sacrifice of their lives. They did not succeed.  This sounds like insanity to me so must be mental illness aka Kamikaze Disease.
