lab work on tx

I am scheduled to have weekly cbc's run each Friday morning before injection night during the first month of tx because of the higher dosing I am doing. I've read that infrequently tx can stress the liver, expecially for those of us with cirrhosis, pushing it from compensated to decompensated quickly in some cases. I am wondering if LFT's should be run as well, or how they would catch something like this in the early stages?

I think you will find that you will find the CBC, LFTs and other chemistry will be done all at the same time and are collectively known as 'safety bloods'.  They are done for the express purpose of monitoring the effect the meds are having on your liver and your body.  This way they can pick things up nice and early.

I was on a trial for the first 8 weeks and we had safety bloods tests done every 3 days.  After 4 weeks that went to weekly safety bloods.

After the 3 month mark (when they consider things should be 'more stable') I have had monthly safety bloods done, and if anything unusual shows they order a repeat test asap.

Again, you are best to check with your clinic but hope this puts your mind at ease until you can talk to them...

All the best

Sometimes things are slow on the weekend......maybe bump this back up later someone that knows will be online.

Good luck, Pam

They ran mine weekly as well...but I'm in a trial.

Definately ask your doc or nurse.

Good luck to you.

Talk to your Doctor because they should do the LFT's with your weekly cbc's or at lest every other week.

Have a nice Christmas and a Happy New Year
