Some of those breathing tx have "dehydrated alcohol" in them which could raise you BAC level. I have heard stories of now sober people having the ignition interlock on their car, using an inhaler, and setting them off as if they had drank alcohol. Since everything is filtered by the liver I would think this couldn't be helping your liver. Probably depends on how often you use them.
There are many reasons a person's license may be suspended that have nothing to do with impaired operation (such as an unpaid fine). The ignition interlock is ONLY used when there has been a conviction of either impaired operation or over 80 mg.
A breathalyzer measures the alcohol in your breath and then the reading is an estimate of your blood alcohol content. Having low RBC (from treatment drugs, for example) may raise the result.
I'm not aware of liver disease itself causing any variation in readings.
My RBCs are low and the last hemoglobin a1c I had done (I'm T1 diabetic) was 0.037 which I can tell you for sure, is EXTREMELY low. However, this measurement is an average of three months. With RBCs 'dying off' faster than they can be replaced, it causes the reading to be misleading.
Is that what he is talking about ? The machine in your car for those with alcohol license suspensions? I am an insurance broker and here in Canada they are used when your license is suspended and you need to drive .Can't see the connection there.
Not sure about the "how", but I know someone with liver damage who has one of those interlocks on his ignition and he has trouble starting his car even when he hasn't been drinking.
Can you be more specific with your question, a little more details not sure what you mean. Are you on some sort of breathing therapy for respiratory problems?
