Thread hijacking/answering questions

Sorry, but I'm just going to throw this out there. When someone is on here looking for help (doesn't matter if WE think their question is important or not)I think its rude to just "hijack" a thread to rant about " how was your outting?" This is NOT a social chat room. I mean, someone (RMB) asked a question and everyone talked about POOP and other things. There are  three other forums that have chat rooms ( the one I like the best is Hep C Palace ) I will post the URL below. Sorry, but some of the "hijackings" are ridiculous.

This forum takes on a lot of different dimensions but usally whatever that might be translates into help or concen for others. I believe that the questions should be addressed in some way for those who visit. I think that asking personal questions or talking about social things should be quiet acceptable it is called caring. It sounds as if you have found a new home and doing advertising for them so I can only wish you well. You will be missed and I hope you continue to visit. Dale

Socially speaking Kalio you always seem to pull the common sense right out of a thing don't you? :) Dale

Well since theres 50 slots on a thread to answer a question that most of the time only takes 5 to answer. Why waste the other slots? When theres as many threads a day being open as there is then peoples thread get dragged to the bottom and have a much better chance of being missed. Enjoy your other sites.

Actually , opening a thread to STEM other threads that are not adressing someones concern is very helpful. People are here to get help. True, we all need support..and there's nothing wrong with a little friendliness and small talk. But lets be real...this IS NOT a CHAT ROOM.  As for the  opeening of threads....administration has told me that the limit of threads to be started in one day is 40. That should leave more than enuff threads per day. Thank you.

Here's the link to the chat room.

I'm hangin in. I've actually felt some better lately but this stuff is like being in a lightening storm and you never where know where it will strike next. I hope it continues as is for the duration. I have this old ragged vette that my granddaughters love to ride around the neigborhood in with the tee tops off. I plan on (hoping it will start -ha) getting it out of the garage and picking them up at the ball field after practice and taking them to McDonalds and then riding out to the forest. I know its not legal but I strap them both into the same seat. Doing something like this seems to make life feel more normal. How have the sides been treating you. I hope you are doing well. My wife told me the other day I had my math off on number of shots left so I have 20 left not 18 or 19 by riba math. Glad she keeps up with me - ha! Tell me how you are doing? Dale

Spacehost :no offense, but this isn't A SOCIAL CHAT ROOM.Maybe YOU should find one of the "other three"

Kalio: My intent isn't to argue with anyone on here. I'm just saying that it makes no sense in hijacking threads when people are CONCERNED about their health..if the hicjacking is to talk about nonsense. As far as " no idea where you got the 40 thread a day thing" ..I got it from the response from administration via email. Write them if you don't believe me.

This isn't some high school clubhouse. And it is for everyone that has Hep to get some help and answers. If you have a problem with my wanting people to get help....take it to the Owners of the site. Aiight? I  am not the one for back and forth.

I believe the people hear DO care, and they do answer the questions. How many different ways can you answer "what does tx mean?" I realize not all questions are like that, but many do not require every member to chime in.
I disagree about the social club part, its that "personal" touch that helps so many.

I think all of you really answered this question quite well.

PS: spacecoast, I thought I was gonna crack up when I clicked on the link you provided!!!

Whoa there!  HCV is a very serious thing to be dealing with.  If we can't smile and occasionally chuckle and say yo once in awhile, we would all be on a bunch of AD's trying to just get through the day!  We need to know that others know how we feel and care how we feel.

I agree we should make sure all questions/concerns are addressed.  And I have seen that done on numerous occasions by someone even starting a new thread when the answer wasn't readily available.  We aren't all on here at the same time.  So, an immediate answer from someone in the "know" of that particular question may take awhile to answer.  In the meantime I don't think there is anything wrong with SOME personal people contact.  For some, it is all they may have, with noone in their support group they need that.

Just my thoughts.

Hey i like huffy. Its my favorite bike. Got a real nice mountain bike. Maybe were talking about two different things here. Oh well, looks like i just hijacked this thread. 2hep2it what was your question about hepatitis C? Since this is a hep-c forum.

Yeah, I know. And it does get a little monotonous  repeating stuff all the time. I suggested to the group ( don't think admin is going to do it ) that maybe a special chat can be set up. I hang out on Delphi forums.. But I think of this site as more of a Help session. It seems a bit more formal since its not a traditional onsite  meeting place.

SpaceGhost: thanks, I like everyone on here too. SO far so good. Kalio was one of the first peeps I met. I'm just trying to look out for the people who are scared. Being told you have a blood disease isn't an easy thing.

Anyway, Its not my intent to get it no arguments ( I won't back out of one though...so don't try it). Funny how no one has written any threads since I started this one. I must be giving ya'll something to do.lol.

P.S. going on a 10 minute break.lol

2hep2it had a suggestion. I don't happen to think it's a good one, but that doesn't discount his (her) right to express it. BTW, why don't you all pick gender specific names? That would help people responding to your posts.

Anyway, from a practical standpoint, I think the banter around here makes the place more inviting. It also keeps folks with good knowledge hanging around. So from where I sit (albeit leaning from side to side to favor the 'rhoids), I think the nonsense actually contributes to the question and answer dialogs.

Not to mention, cutting up and letting off steam is just plain fun. Keeps the mind off the burning itches and raised ALTs.

I really resent your complaining about us socializing and not helping. I know that yesterday I spent alot of time talking about migraines on the thread you mention. It was NOT all social hour by far! In fact reliving migraines wasn't a pleasant thing for me to do at all. I was REALLY trying to help.

I enjoy helping, but I also like to get to know the people here and have a little fun. Sometimes the only time I laugh or feel good all day is when I come to this forum and hear some people having fun. That is not the only reason I come here, that is for sure, but it really lightens up some heavy stuff we are dealing with.

Getting to know others here IS part of the support we give each other, I don't feel that is hijacking a thread at all.

Most questions (and threads) are taken seriously and responded to seriously. If there is some caring or laughing in between, who does it hurt?  I think RMG got as many answers as we could give him. I am sorry we couldn't do more, but we aren't doctors!

I would sure hate to see this forum become so serious that no one ever laughed. Now that would be sad! Laugher is the best medicine, remember?

I had to go back and read the "poop" commentary after hep made a remark about it,............

Azgirl was cracking me up!!!! I got to laughing all over again.
Now you gotta admit, that really was a pretty funny "poop dialogue" ie. bullets and all that.
ROFLMAO

Somedays, this is the only time I really laugh about my present situation, cuz there aint nothing fun, funny, or entertaining about being on tx!!!!!!!!

:>) It was pretty funny stuff!!! Better than watching some comedy show. Hey we could send some dialog to someone for a comedy on Hep C. Now wouldn't that be funny! It could be very informative as well.

There were at least 9 comments about migraines, so I still say no harm done that I can see.

I didn't say YOU. I agree that it can't all ne doom and gloom. There is always time to get your mind off things....and YES you did try to help him , so there for my remarks weren't towards you. Mymom had a saying....don't put on a bandaid unless you've been cut.lol. That says it all.

P.S. you guys should really try to get to the site I posted, because as SF girl said its not all baout being sick. Its about sharing and comraderie, and unfortunately this site doesn't cut it for that. Because we don't have the ability to go back and forth and write what we wish. The fact that this post has "Hijacked" all conversational threads proves that.

Are you going to celebrate tonight? You sure deserve a half of non-alcoholic beer at least!
