Glad you're getting the EGD. Never hurts to know. I also had to be careful w the choke. Like I would strangle on my own saliva. haha. Had nothing to do w varices. I still do it 4 weeks post tx.
@ Dee - hope this is just a fluke. Keep us posted.

During tx I had a tightness in my neck, it got better, now 15 weeks after finishing I notice a lump in my neck.  I am going to the doctor to get it checked out.  I am hoping it is nothing
Good luck to you Billy

Haha...I know my dad has it, and it is more common in men, and it's sometimes called "old mans' throat"...but me and my Dad call it 'the choke".
Neither of us have our molars though, and my tooth plate is only a temp.
When we eat out, my Dad has to get soup, because he chokes on regular food, and has to go throw up in the bathroom, or even worse, outside the restaurant : (
I guess they will put a cam down there and take alook, better safe than sorry!

I've been having trouble swallowing since starting treatment. Its h#ll getting my morning pills down. And also I have to be very careful what I eat and how fast I eat. Drinking while I eat which youbwould think would help with the swallowing actually makes it worse like I'm aspirating. I never thought to bring it to my design attention I hardly tell them things I assume everything is a side that will go away I guess ibshoukd. And I hope they find your problem and fix it its a horrible feeling.

Hi billy..
You posted about this a while back and I posted this below as a response. Don't know whether you saw it or not.  If not it might be a good idea to see an ENT to rule it out..
Best.
.Will

billy @jillybean.....

This may be a byproduct of GERD( gastrointestinal Reflux Disease)  It is called  "Larynngopharygeal Reflux"
.
Difficuly swallowing is one of the classic symptoms. If the symptom persists I would suggest a visit to an ENT as they scope to diagnose.
Hope that helps...
Will.

What is LPR?

During gastroesophageal reflux, the contents of the stomach and upper digestive tract may reflux all the way up the esophagus, beyond the upper esophageal sphincter (a ring of muscle at the top of the esophagus), and into the back of the throat and possibly the back of the nasal airway. This is known as laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR), which can affect anyone. Adults with LPR often complain that the back of their throat has a bitter taste, a sensation of burning, or something “stuck.” Some patients have hoarseness, difficulty swallowing, throat clearing, and difficulty with the sensation of drainage from the back of the nose (“postnasal drip”). Some may have difficulty breathing if the voice box is affected. Many patients with LPR do not experience heartburn.

Sry to hear you both are having that problem. But happy to hear you're feeling better post tx. Hopefully, it will be a pill to take and things will calm down...
My new thought: There's a treatment for everything, right? Can't help but lol. We're a tough bunch.
My swallowing gets better after banded varices fall off and I digest them out. EW!
