rexx, I did the Pegasys the first time and am now doing the PegInron. I am finding the PegIntron a lot harder on my system than the Pegasys. Since you failed treatment with the Peg Intron your doctor may have wanted you to do the other -- mine wanted me to change. I am not saying you will enjoy the Pegasys, but I think you may like it better.
frijole
I wasn't suggesting you switch. The two drugs work in a somewhat similar manner. I was trying to say that based on your previous response I think you have a very good chance with either drug and incivek has the added benefit of your using their recommended stronger riba Dosing for your weight.
Good luck,
Dave.
forgot to say thanks alot @ spectda.
Well I will start next Friday with incivek and I have the meds at home already so I no more can and want to switch to vic.
Since they did not use a lead in with Incivek I thought you might find the lead in information from the victrelis trials informative if you have not already reviewed it.
You had a 1.54 log drop at 4 weeks last tx. If you were treating with Vic your chance would be very good if you have at least as good a response as you did last time at week 4. Because Vic and Incivek are similar types of drugs I believe that your chance of success this time is very good also, especially taking into consideration your increase in ribavirin dose this time around.
Of course as I am sure you are well aware you won't know until you try.
Good luck to you and I hope we will have a great result.

"In the HCV SPRINT-2 treatment-naïve study, patients receiving VICTRELIS who had good response after the 4-week lead-in period, defined by a greater than or equal to 1.0-log10 decline in HCV-RNA , achieved SVR rates of 81 percent (203/252) in the RGT arm and 79 percent (200/254) in the 48-week treatment arm compared to 51 percent (133/260) in the PR control arm."
My first treatment I was on pegintron, and I had the flue 3 days of every week for a year. The Pegasys is more even and I don't have the flue like symptoms I had on the pegintron.
My weight is 57 kg/114 pounds.
Vl @ 4 weeks was 10000.I didn't became anemic.daily rbv dose was 800 mg with weight based pegintron.
this time1000 mg with 180 microgr.pegasys.
What was your viral load at 4 weeks? Did you become anemic? What was your daily ribavirin dosage? How much do you weigh?
The Incivek will greatly improve your odds, but the ribavirin and Interferon are still very important as they will be needed to defeat the virons that are resistant to the DAA.
recommended weight based ribavirin dosing for Incivik is:
< 75 kg = 1000 mg
≥ 75 kg = 1200 mg
24 weeks.
@ week 12 vl was 1000
how long did it take to get to 300?
i was never und in my soc try.
vl gone from 350 000 to 300 but didn t get und.
so hope the incivek will make the diffrence this time.
In the trials for Incivek they used Pegasys. In the trials for Victrelis they used Pegintron because both are Merck drugs. They both have similar efficacy and people who have used both generally report less sides with Pegasys.
Were you ever undetectable in your previous attempts? If you were at what week did that occur?
