I'm truly sorry you have suffered long term side effects of treatment.
You and I look at things from a different experience with hep C and tx.
Hep C took my liver out.
I'm only here typing because of a liver transplant.
When transplanted almost 3 years ago, I was living on 8% of my liver.
The surgeon said I had about 6 weeks of life left.
Yes long term side effects are possible just as almost side effect free treatment is as well.
The vast majority I believe fall in between, having irritating side effects during tx but returning to normal after.
Most of these people go on with their lives, and do not post online.
For many people, interferon treatment has saved them from cirrhosis, liver cancer and even death.
This does not make me pro-interferon.
In fact, when asked, I'd advise anyone with minimal to no liver damage to wait or look into a trial.
If they chose to do interferon tx, I support their choice. It's not up to me.
In the interest of being supportive to those doing tx, I lean towards the positive.
I chose to encourage people to eat well, exercise, and stay upbeat during tx.
When people repeatedly post complaints dwelling on their misery without offering help, it causes more anxiety which I feel is not in the best interest of anyone's health.
I've been watching the new developments of the interferon-free orals with reserved excitement.
It will be a great day when tx is interferon free with minimal side effects.
For most people, that day is still on the horizon.
Wishing you nothing but peace.
OH
i am on the pegasys assistance program where they help the payment. I got a call from the nurse about 7 or 8 weeks after i started...but didn't ask any personal information, just asked how i was doing and if I had proper training on how to inject and the side effects, etc.
I do not and never have got any assistance for any Company or faciility to help pay for my meds. I have not and did not complaign to any one . I talk to my Dr only. I agree this is a serious desease. Maybe all they want is reasearch who knows . I just am not confortable giving out my medical forms to an unknow Co. or unknow person for any reason. IAt this pioint I dont know why they sent it. I am on SS and I have Medicare and a suppliment to Medicare I pay both of these Ins. out my pocket. I Have to carry a prescription drug plan also. That I pay for out my pocket that is why my meds are so exp. If you aree retired an live in my state most Companys here dont give you insurance when you retire. unlese you are a teacher or state worker. Have a great day God Bless us all

As mentioned above, if you are underinsured and needed any sort of assistance with the cost of the meds, they may be perfectly within their right to ask for this information.
Otherwise, it's just a consent form. You either give consent or you don't. It doesn't sound like any underhanded attempt is being made to trick you out of personal information.
If you did require assistance to pay for the costs of the drugs, be careful if you decide not to provide them with information. It may mean you won't get further assistance. If there is any sort of means test for continued assistance, you may be required to provide ongoing information about your financial situation from time to time.
Never give out personal info over the phone, I got contacted by cdc and they just send you a letter with there logo on it and sign it and they do the rest of the work anybody calling you by phone sounds very supicous, they only contacted me cause I had a complaint the treatment almost killed me, still recovering 2 yrs later take care and watch out for scams because of the economy they are everywhere. I got so fed up I actually broke my phone by throwing it across the room probably ribo rage lmao, good luck to you.
I'd never give out my personal info to anyone. Tell them you will ask your doctor and followup with the better business bureau. If they are sketchy marketers...they should back off and at least talking to the doc, drug co and bbb will let you know where you stand.
If this is from Genetech then I think there's a misunderstanding.
I get my meds through from them.
They asked for a fax from my doctor's office with my prescription and insurance info but that's it.
You need to call their toll free number as listed above.
If someone is impersonating them, they also need to know.
OH
I agree if they want it let them pay to get it like I am having to do. I worked all my life had insurance that I paid myself I retired now on SS and I have to buy my own ins . My co pays are outrageous but what little savings I have should cover treatment. Just a shame that companys think they own you and your life.
Just thankful to be alive they dont need my personal stuff my Dr has it and so far that is enough.
These people want your permission and authorization to release your medical records? The only thing my doctor gave my specialty insurance company was my insurance info and my prescription. My insurance company in turn authorized all three meds.
I obtained the Pegintron & Incivek copay assistance on my own and the only thing those two companies cared about was my diagnosis and financial info to see how I would qualify. I am not seeing the rationale how these third parties justify wanting your medical info.
I got a letter from vertex wanting to know about my side effects and asking for a release from my dr last month
Genetech has a program that provides pegasys, (interferon) and ribavarin to those who are uninsured or under insured.
It's called Access to Care.
They have a toll free phone number.
I suggest you call them in the morning and get everything straightened out.
(888) 941-3331
If you have applied or perhaps your doctor's office gave them your info: then you will indeed have to provide them with information.
Good luck
OH
this is letter from so it says genentech it says a drug company. I am not signing it or giving them anything .
Thanks for hearing me out and I agree with you.

Agree with the above. Never have had those questions. Ask for a phone number to call back, then look the number up on Google, or some reverse lookup service.
The letter you received should be easy to verify if its coming from a legitimate source, or its a scam. Regardless of what you pay monthly for the med, sharing your personal information is a personal choice. If you don't feel comfortable with it, simply don't share your information.
I've received several phone calls from my Insco to check on status, but never from Pegasys/Genentech. This could be a third party partner that collects data for Genentech for their use. You can call Genentech directly at (800) 821-8590 to see if this is routine for them.
I agree with Pooh, sounds like a scam.
Tell them to scram.
I could be way off base here, but it seems odd to me that anyone from the drug company is contacting you for personal information.
I know we can sign up to be followed by a Pegasys nurse who will answer our questions and call us to check on us every month or so. It said nothing about personaI medical records. I never signed up so I dont' know what they do.
Personally, I would not sign anything that gives the company permission to have your personal medical records or to share it with whomever they feel like sharing it with.
Are you certain this is from the drug company. Maybe it is some sort of scam.
