Needlestick Injury

hi there. about 11 weeks ago while working in ed, I sustained a needlestick injury from arterial line needle  via double gloves that I was wearing. source is hep c antibodies positive, HCV RNA status unknown. I"ve checked hep c pcr for myself at 4 weeks and again at 7 weeks. these were negative results. also hep c antibodies for myself at 10 weeks was non-reactive as well. however, I note that my ALT have been creeping up from 23 to 44 and now 50 (reference range <45). Shall I be worried?

Thanks for your response and support.

Well it looks like from your testing you don't have hepatitis c.  I can tell you that my ALT & AST were high 30s when I did have hepatitis C.  Went up to the high 50s on hepatitis c treatment.   Then went down to the low 20s after treatment.  Now are in the high teens.

Not only hep c makes you ALT & AST go up and down.   Medication, drinking, other illnesses etc etc etc.   If your concern see your doctor.   If I knew my ALT was in the 50s (above normal) I would see my doctor and get additional testing.

Best to you
