The links above that Pooh provided are very informative. They will give you a better understanding of the disease and the correlation to Hep C.
If PCT is confirmed you will have to treat this before you begin Hep C treatment. Having this disease can make Hep C difficult to treat. Your Dr will probably want to do a 24 hour urine test to measure the patterns of the porphyrins. Also your Dr will do weekly phlebotomies in order to reduce the amount of iron in your liver and check your serum ferritin levels. Once these levels are reduced to normal levels your Dr will probably suggest treatment for Hep C.
Let us know your results when you find out.

Welcome to the forum.
Hepatitis C can cause Porphyria Cutanea Tarda (PCT). Therefore, if one has Porphyria Cutanea Tarda (PCT), one should be tested for Hepatitis C.
Here are a couple of articles about Porphyria Cutanea Tarda (PCT). They explain the causes, the condition, and the treatment:

There are some people on the forum who have PCT and hopefully they will see your post and respond.
