We did it - And The Battle Begins!

I just wanted to let you know that hubby started treatment!  We got through that first shot.  I have read so much here and really feel as if we did a good job in preparing ourselves - I just can't thank you all enough!

So far very minimal sides, and I know it is too early to tell anything - but hey at this point I can be grateful for every good day right?  No initial injection reaction and just a little tired and achy Sat. and Sunday.  But today he says he feels great!   He is drinking lots and lots of water, using lotions heavily and eating well.  The biggest thing is that insomnia seems to have started last night, we'll see how tonight goes.  But believe me I am really counting our blessings thus far.

I am sorry I think you asked me about this already and I meant to get back to you and things have just been a little crazy around here the past week or so.  Yes, we discussed it with his dr. and nurse and then took it one step further and talked it over with another dr.  They all seemed to think that we needed to stay on course with the 800 Riba.  We thought about pursuing this and starting all over with a new set of drs. but at this point it is just not an option.  Hubby has had a bad year and has gone through four surgeries since November - been out of work since Nov. as a result and just started back to work and back on track last month.  We are in a position where he needs to work and is somewhat physically drained already - we are also looking at another surgery possibly by the end of the year.  These are some of the reasons all drs. sited for not wanting to use more Riba.  Hopnestly I have read a lot about using higher riba doses and was extremely skeptical about even trying the 800 mg - but when everyone is in agreement it makes it kind of hard.  So I have opted to just show support, quit arguing and hope and pray for the best.

A few days ago you posted about his meds.  Is he taking 800 mg riba? If so, did you discuss it with the doc?
