4 Weeks Left

Hi was wondering if any one can answer my question . I'm on interferon and ribavarin 48 week treatment I'm undetected at 6 month got 4 more weeks left of treatment picked them up yesterday and got bloods took received a call from doctor earlier platletts are 29 were always sitting at 41 ,42 etc so she tells me to take 200 ribavarin in morning and 400 at night  so my question is why is platelets dropped so much ? and dropping dose will it effect final outcome ? I feel ok apart from normal flu like symptoms etc I have noticed little bits of blood in my nose throat area when I wake up but just little bits for bout a month now as if it's from nasal gums rinse out ok till next morn then same appreciate anyone's comments thanks and love ur forum think ppl on here r so kind and supportive

My best wishes and prayers for you to achieve SVR.

nsgirlie looks really good for your final PCR in July to be SVR.

My non medical opinion, you were on full treatment doses for 44 weeks correct?   Ribavirin has an approx multiple dose half-life of 12 days.  My guess the reduction to 600 mg for the final 4 weeks should have no or an extremely low effect on reaching SVR on final post tx test.

I also was on the same treatment for 24 weeks and my hemoglobin levels dropped really low at 4 weeks...Anemia caused by the riba. So they lowered my riba dose to 600 from 1200. Kept dropping throughout treatment and I had 5 transfusions. I was really worried that the lower dose would affect my chances of SVR. However, undetected at 16 weeks and also 5 weeks after I ended treatment. Just waiting for my final PCR in July.
I wouldn't stress about taking a lower dose. It didn't affect my results. Best of luck to you in getting rid of this nasty virus.
