Hi.
I started treatment yesterday (Friday). Friday's schedule was 8:30 Incevik, Ribavirin with avacado, 1:00 Incevik with avacado, 3:00 Peginterferon (at the Dr.'s office). I was then going to take Incevik and Ribavirin at 8:30. Well, the patient support people called to check on me and told me to take the 8:30 dose at 11:00, which I did.
So today (day 2) went as follows: 7:00 Incevic, Ribavirin with avacado, 3:00 Incevik with avacado, 11:00 Incevik, Ribavirin with avacado.
Then I read something about the Ribavirin being taken 12 hrs apart. Should I take my next Rib at 11am?
ALSO, about 15 or 20 minutes after I took my 11pm Inciv & Rib with an avacado I threw it up. Sorry to if this is a bit gross, but I threw up the avacado and saw the "shell" of the incevik, all gelled up. Did the medicine get into my body? Do I count this as a "missed" dose?
What do I do? I'll take my regular 7am doses, but have I gone too long with out ribavek? Should I take my reg dose of Invev & Rib or should I add to it? Have I blown my whole deal?
I'm kinda freakin' out here. I'm scared that I've screwed this whole thing up.
You got off to a rocky start, but I believe you can recover.
I agree with Jasmine. It is essential to take the Incivek 8 hours apart (+- 1 hour).
Concur with LF12. You can't afford to be throwing up the Incivek. My doc prescribed Odansetron for my nausea. There are lots of other nausea meds. Get something.
Unless you absolutely love avocado, consider eating something more agreeable with your stomach. I might get some push back from other posters on this point, but it's better to eat junk fat food if that is what it takes to stomach the Incivek.
If your pooper starts burning then you likely need to eat more fat with your Incivek meals.
Best, GB
