liver cancer

My husband was diagnost with bile duct cancer about 5 months ago and was given 6mnths to 1yr to live. He is currently under going chemotherapy. I have two children. We do not know much about this disease and i am very scared for him. I was trying to get some information on the symptoms he is experiencing and if these are signs of the end or is it signs of chemo. I have asked the oncologist but her answers more or less tells me there is really nothing they can do.
Right now his feet are swelling and has problems with bowel movements. I really want to find some hope with his condition or something in can turn too.

Dr. Silverman at University of Iowa Hospitals - look him up on the web.  He's a great guy.

My Mother has bile duct cancer.  She had radiation and alittle chemo.  Her legs and feet swelled she had to be hospitalized.  And treated by wrapping her legs and elavating them and also diuretics.  After a month she came home and was doing well, but now has become jaundiced.
Original prognosis was "months to live" but she is now past 18 months since diagnosis..  A stent can be placed in the bile duct (University of Iowa Hospitals), but is tricky and my Mother is too old to handle it.  Good Luck with you husband and don't give up.

Does your husband have HCV and cancer?
Either way, I feel pretty sure there is something they can give him to help with the two problems he is having now.  Is he at home?  If those are the only two problems he is having now...that doesn't sound too bad to me.  Have you ask them to give him something for this?  I would think that the chemo could be the cause of either or both...but that is just a guess on my part.
I hope they can help him.
