Welcome to the forum.
Since you have Cirrhosis, you need to see a Hepatologist, not a Gastroenterologist. When a person has Cirrhosis, he/she needs to see a doctor who is very competent in recognizing and managing any and all complications and medical conditions associated with Cirrhosis. Only a Hepatologist is capable of managing the complexities of Cirrhosis.
Since you live in Toronto, the best facility for you to be seen at is the Liver Clinic at the Toronto General Hospital (Western Division ). You may need to have your primary care doctor refer you to the clinic, but once there, you will receive excellent treatment. You should be able to receive the most advanced treatment currently approved in Canada at that clinic.
If the clinic will prescribe the combination of Sofosbuvir and Simeprevir (Sovaldi and Olysio), that combination has excellent cure rates.
Best of luck.
New drugs that increase the SVR rates and no Inf for some. You really need to see a Gastroenterologist or hepatologist who specializes in Hepatitis C for evaluation and treatment recommendations.
Two new drugs approved in Canada to be used with previously approved drugs and not together.
Sovaldi - sofosbuvir
