I started incivek therapy on Feb. 17th, just finishing week five. I am a relapser after a total of 3 years on either interferon, interferon and reba or pegferon and reba around 12 years ago. My original viral lode was 5 million plus (the test only went to 5 million at the time). I relapsed and since then my viral load has fluctuated, but has steadily dropped to around 1 million when I started the current treatment. I floated around here about side effects and must admit that it was pretty scary, as I had many bad side effects, insomnia, constipation, diarrhea, nausea, lack of appetite, loss of weight, ETC.. I felt terrible for 3 years and it didn't work, so I was pretty reticent to start this treatment, but the numbers are too good. I just have a few suggestions, I am a very healthy, 56 yo man, a runner with a good diet. The hardest thing for me has been eating late, eating early and eating all that fat. It is nauseating even without the drugs. I have used peanut butter, avocados, whole milk, granola bars, cheese and some processed sausages. The heartburn and nausea at night has been bad and the cause of some insomnia. I have found that if I eat a banana a few minutes prior to the fat, I do not get the heartburn. So far the side effects have been not too bad and if I can solve the nausea and heartburn, I may luck out. Does anyone see a problem with eating a banana before the fat? Another thing that I have tried to do is continue running, not quite as much as before, but when I feel 70% or better, I go running. I feel a lot more normal afterwards. Sorry for the long post, I promise it to be the last long one.
