You’ll be fine, Sasha; the only way you’ll have Hep C now is if you somehow reinfected with a new disease. Congratulations—

I see; I think I understand now. You will always test positive for antibodies; you have had the virus, and the antibodies will be with you for life, regardless of your actual viral status. You have not relapsed unless a test called a “PCR” tells you otherwise. Your most previous doctor should have counseled you on this.

Best to you--

sorry for all of the confusion, i have not talked about this much.
ok i have genotype 2b. i did treament in 2007 for 6 months and got a clear result afterwards. i had my last viral load in nov 2008 and was still clear. i went back to another doctor last week and she ran the antibody test which came back as an 11. that seemed high to me.i am now awaiting my viral load test and am worried since the antibody seemed high. so my question is: if i have to do the treatment again will i still have a good chance of it working and clearing the virus? thanks for all of yalls responses, it means a lot.

Correction: As Bill has mentioned, if you have Genotype 2b (and it would seem likely if you only treated for 6 months) then you have a higher chance of clearing than those with Geno 1 or 3.

You sound like I feel!  I too am awaiting my post treatment viral load results and I'm feeling a bit freaked as well! I think it's normal to feel a little apprehensive :)

When was your last viral load test?  And is this your first VL test on completion of treatment or is it your 12 week, or 24 week test after your treatment finished?

As Bill has mentioned if you have Genotype 2b (and it would seem likely if you only treated for 6 months) then you higher chance of clearing than those with Geno 1 or 3.

Take heart :)

It’s difficult to understand your question. “i am not feeling great about it. can you do treatment twice and have it work both times?”

Do you mean not have it work both times? There has to be a number in front of your genotype; 2b, possibly?

If you have genotype 2, it is very likely you will clear the virus permanently if you treated for six months, provided you were compliant with your medications.
