use of cocain when you have hepatitis C

If you have hepatitis C, and it is bad enough to start the shots they give you, what affect does cocain have on your liver.

"........therefore back into the vicious cycle that started the need for the medications to get rid of hepC. "

that strikes me as painting with a broad brush.

When you are young, you are indestructible!!! Not!!! Coke is a great "high" when you're partying. Feel great, everybody talks, no one listens party party party. As the years go by, it is possibly one of the most destructive drugs out there. It kills, ruins lives and one day you'll be left with nothing.
Not even your health is immune from it. Stop now and get on with your life to a positive future. As you get older, your body and mind cannot tolerate this drug. You'll get left behind as the rest of the world goes on and on.
STOP NOW!!! It's not that hard!!! Stay green and your body will thank you for it!!!!

Also - generally speaking doing cocaine can easily lead to drinking once you run out of the drug........therefore back into the vicious cycle that started the need for the medications to get rid of hepC.

Best to avoid ALL things that can damage the liver during treatment especially if they lead you to want to abuse alcohol.

Cocaine-induced liver cell injury: comparison of morphological features in man and in experimental models.

Kanel GC, Cassidy W, Shuster L, Reynolds TB.

Department of Pathology, University of Southern California Liver Unit, Downey 90242.

Although investigative research of animal models in cocaine metabolism and associated liver cell injury has been fairly extensive during the past 10 yr, little evidence of hepatotoxicity has been documented in man. We report a case of fulminant hepatic failure and acute rhabdomyolysis resulting from cocaine use. Coagulative-type perivenular and midzonal necrosis and periportal microvesicular fatty change were the predominant morphological features throughout all lobules of the liver, in contrast to periportal necrosis described in the only previous case report with biopsy. Differences in zonal necrosis caused by the same drug are not typically seen in man experiencing direct or indirect intrinsic hepatotoxicity. However, experimental models have shown cocaine to have this ability, dependent on enzyme induction or inhibition, sex and dose. Therapeutic approaches for prevention of possible liver cell injury by cocaine toxicity are discussed.

I asked this question because I have a friend who has just found out that she has hepatitis c.  I am going with her next week to a class that tells about shots she will start taking.  She uses cocain and I just need to know where I can find some information to show her effects cocain has on the liver. She has stopped drinking because there is material she has read about drinking and the liver.  I just think she needs to see it in print that cocain also has bad effects.  I thank everyone who answers, and if anyone can tell me where I can get the informations to show here I would appreciate it.  I am just the one friend who cares and will be beside her through all of this.

this may be the wrong time to start treatment for HCV. What you need is treatment for cocaine use first.

Cocaine damages your liver.  If you're planning to take cocaine during treatment, then you're getting off to a bad start.

Im not sure exactly the effect of cocaine with the treatment drugs combined or what your asking.  My first thought would be if you are using, then you most likely are not eating good, sleeping good, drinking enough healthy fluids, like being dehydrated and so forth, and you might not be able to adhere to the treatment schedule.  You cant miss a shot or a pill over a long period of time.   Plus the drug cocaine plus the  treatment drugs is really going to play tricks on your mind and nerves.  Nothing I would say you want to fool with while trying to get rid of this disease.  I can't imagine cocaine having a good effect on the liver in any condition.  Like my grandmother use to tell me.  Some things just take a while to kill you but they will, like ciggerettes , drugs, and alchohol.   Unless your like my neice who od'  and died when she was 16.  combination of heroin and tylenol.  Pretty much melted her liver.  That didnt take long did it?  actually just one night.   Say goodbye to the cocaine for good!  Get rid of this virus and live a healthy life for the rest of the time you have here.
