I stoped 17 years ago and have tryed several times before , the trick when succeded was that i took one our at the time i stoped 10 to 2 and you got them intensiv craving for a ciggaret say half past 4 then I thought yes maybe I must smoke but I will wait until time is 10 to 5 and five minuts later the cravin was gone and didn´t came back in several ours and never exact 10 to something.
And as time went by the cravin appeared more an more seldom.
i also eat a lot of lollipops the first months in order to keep the mouth and hands busy.
I´ve been on all kind of drugs get of them all but i must say that nikotin was the hardest and if I hadn`t got a blood circulation issue, my legs went nump every night I dont know if I`d been motivated enough.
But its doable good luck.

I smoke as well and I wouldn't mind quitting myself. In the past I have been able to stop at least twice with the nicotine patches. I stopped for 3 years once, and the last time I used them I quit for 2 weeks. My wife smokes as well, that makes it a little harder.
Sure I don't blame her for me not quitting as I know that I will quit if I really want it. It just makes getting motivated a little bit harder. Since you're so involved with the 12 steps I suggest you use the steps in conjunction with the patches. You can quit as anyone can quit anything they want, you have to believe it. If you've quit dope, then you can quit smoking. Good Luck
