Like Lalapple says, Advil or aspirin can lower platelets which are already low on treatment. My doc only uses Tylenol.
liver filters most toxins in the body. so if you don't need any, then don't use any. but as for painkiller, my hepa only sida Tylenol. no Advil bc it reduces platelet counts, and mine are already double digits. and bummer i became allergic to Tylenol by week 30. hello Benadryl!
Advil is Ibuprofen (generic name), which is also Motrin. I use it daily. They gave it to me at the doctor's office when I took my first shot. Study literature says to take Tylenol, 2 tabs 1 hour before shot, so either is OK for me. Of course I don't have any liver damage.
any thoughts on advil??

80 mg. Children's Tylenol gives a lot of flexibility if you're trying to keep it under 1000 mg / day. (3 tablets 4x a day, 4 tablets 3x a day, 6 tablets twice a day, etc) All I use these days is ibuprofen, since I don't have any reasons not to, but on tx I'd carry Children's T around with me on Friday afternoons while I was waiting to start feeling my shot.
mikesimon is correct. Tylenol is what was recommended for me with HCV and cirrhosis by my doctor at the transplant center. Note, that as he says within the 2 grams per day limit. Which I think is about 3 Tylenol plus tablets.
It is toxic in high doses.

My doc told me to take Ibuprofen. So far so good but along with the 7 ribas a day, the AD and the occasional xanax My stomach is a mess. So I got some prilosec otr and added yet another pill for the day but its helping.
Tylenol dosed less than 2 grams per day is often recommended with liver disease. It was recommended to me by my transplant team but not to exceed 1 gram per day. I bought low dose Tylenol - I think they are 375 mg capsules - and used it sparingly.

It's best to ask your doctor as he/she knows the medical history of the patient.
Paracetamol is O.K
Non-steroidal ant-inflammatories (NSAIDS) can cause a rise in liver enzymes.
The liver (even with Hep C) is tough,so dont be afraid of medicines which say not to be used with liver disease.
Virtually all medicines have a liver disease warning which, within reason, you need not take too literally.
