2.18 log drop in viral at 8 wks.  Not a great response but you are responding and stopping treatment for 5 days in the beginning probably had something to do with it.  Those on pegylated interferon and ribavirin only that have a viral load at 12 weeks should consider stopping treatment even with if a 2 log drop.  The likelihood of achieving SVR is lower even with extended treatment.  Not saying it doesn't happen when the patient extends treatment past 48 weeks but those who do 48 weeks only do not usually achieve SVR.

Consulting with a hepatologist or Gi who is experienced in treating patients with hepc is not a bad idea.  If your tolerating treatment well and want to move forward a PI could be introduced now, especially with a low viral load or your doctor may choose to stop all treatment, wait and begin again with triple therapy.  For the record, the PI's have been approved since May but not available through most specialty pharmacies until June.
It unfortunate your doctor was not aware of the DAA availability because you were willing to treat and you would have had greater odds of a cure on triple therapy.

Yep, I agree with the comments above.  As for your skin, do stay extra hydrated every day and you a good lotion.  I had a patch of the Riba rash on my arm, found that GOLD BOND EXTRA STRENGTH MEDICATED BODY LOTION, TRIPLE ACTION RELIEF FOR EXTRA DRY & ITCHY SKIN not only helped with the rash, but felt good on all my skin.  I highly recommend you try some (comes in the green bottle).  Best to you in tx and in finding a new, knowledgeable doc.

Find a good hepatoligist and discuss it with him. My first time around interferon didn't clear me fast enough so I had to quit, I'm on week 10 of incevik and I've been und since week 4. Good luck. Joe
