while water retention can cause it, I'm that way without any, just procrit is keeping me between 10 and 11 and it's not enough oxygen for my not skinny body.

you should also get your thyroid checked though as this is a main cause of water retention while on tx, and I would recommend a close look at your kidney function as well. Of course it could be the heart, but a lot of other things are more common.

a cpap machine can also have a down side, It can irritate bronchial tubes, cause ear infections and dryness or swelling of the throat.

If you are not on procrit definitely try to get on it, but also be sure to do an iron panel before and while on it. If you haven't got enough iron to be taken up the procrit won't work but you have to know the labs before hand. Usually patients have pleanty and or too much free iron...and so you don't want to just willy nilly start taking iron, that could be dangerous.

Water retention caused the tiredness and breatlessness?  Great you sorted it - sometimes I guess we have to be careful not to endure symptoms that can be fixed.  Hard to know sometimes when there are so many variables.

Hope you find some answers.  I must say you are one tough bird to keep working through all of those events.  You can't expect to keep going at the pace you always have if you can't breathe and blood continues to drop. Would disability be an option for you since your symptoms are getting worse?  At least you would have an income and your medical bills would be covered too.  Worth checking into.
Good Luck

im not on treatment as my doc think my #'s are too low. i do see Dr Mark Russo, at the transplant center.
i normally look and feel pretty good, dont miss much work, kinda active, ect
my only symptoms are shortness of breath, brittle nails, acne that comes and goes, and i seem to be getting older.

if possible, consider a trip to Miami to see a Dr. Eugene Shiff

He's considered one of the best liver specialists in the country.

I felt that way, until I was put on procrit.  Ended up in the er twice because I could not breathe.  You may need to call your dr., or take a trip to the ER.

ive been to the transplant center after my "varices event" but my meld is too low to be on the list. and my # 's fluxuate i do see a "liver doc" but it think he is more of a  gastro guy
last cbc he said i had the lowest viral load he ever saw in someone with hep c.
i use a cpap machine now cause it seems like when i lay down fluid closes my airway.
my doctor was the doc i had in the hospital who tried to seal my varices but they need to do a tip procedure.

Sorry you're feeling so bad these days. Are you currently on treatment? If so, you may need the helper drug Procrit ( epo). But but in any event, you should really be discussing your symptoms with your liver specialist. My assumption is that you are saying a liver specialist (hepatologist) but if you're not, you should really speak to one. How recent are the symptoms? If they've suddenly just appeared, I would call your doctor right now, and if not available, a trip to the emergency room might be in order.
