Boceprevir & blood counts

Anyone doing boceprevir? I was supposed to start last week, after 4 weeks Peg/Riba. But doc won't let me start yet, says white & red counts too low. White = 1.9, red = 3.77, platelets = 56. My counts are always low, but were driven down further by Peg/Riba. Anyone else encounter this? Is my doc being overly cautious? I had wanted teleprevir, but he said I could never tolerate it. Appreciate any responses. BTW, this will be tx #3.

I did get okay to start boceprevir yesterday, as blood counts are low but stable. Yes, doc is hepatologist at big transplant center. I used procrit in previous 2 treatments, he says he'll give it to me rather than lower any dosages, so that is good. Boceprevir (Victrelis) is making me nauseous and even more tired. Yecch. Thanks for response. I forgot about the 2 different parts of Medhelp, haven't been here in quite a while.

I am not qualified to answer your question but are you being treated by a hepatologist?  Has he mentioned using any of what we call rescue drugs to bring up the blood counts?  I am referring to procrit to increase the hemoglobin and neupogen to increase the neutrophils.  Did you use these helpers on your last two treatments?

I think you should post this on the "other side" rather than this social network side for more advice.
