Headaches

I am on my fifth week of treatment. (injections & pills) I was doing well until the headaches started. I have tried everything including icepacks. Any suggestions? Does the treatment progressively get worse as time goes by or does it eventually balance its self between good days, bad days.

You might want to post questions like this in the Hep C forum. This forum gets a lot of the people from there, but here is more for just talking about fun stuff... venting and such.

Debbie,

Its no problem that you posted over here we just want to make sure you get the proper exposure to your questions when you post them up and this side isn't nearly as busy (or as medically appropriate) as the other side. Over here like Diane said we post lame youtube videos and jokes and things to amuse ourselves but the other side is supposed to be 100% medical and serious.

The thing I said about the water is true. If the doctor has not advised you, you should be drinking a minimum of half your body weight in ounces a day in water. This can help greatly with the headaches. That means if you weigh 120 you drink 60oz a day of water. The treatment meds are EXTREMELY dehydrating and that can really cause alot of side effects.

Please make sure to post again, we can never have enough Debbies around here!

Best of luck,
Another Deb  :)

Sorry I didn't make things more clear for you. You're welcome here too. Sometimes what I type just doesn't come out right... those powerful drugs we are taking just fry my brain. Once you go to the link that Bill gave you and sign up it, will be in your "shortcuts" at the top of the page, and then you can just go back and forth between these two. I forgot that you can't do that till you sign up. Sorry about that.

Hi Debbie—

Medhelp maintains two sites for HCV patients; the one you’re currently in is set up as a ‘social’ side for joking around and off-topic conversations. You might get more attention to medical issues if you repost here:

http://www.medhelp.org/forums/Hepatitis-C/show/75

It’s a little confusing at first. Sorry you’re dealing with headaches from this; I don’t have much to offer in this regard, but I’d like to welcome you to the discussion group.

Hope you feel better, and take care—

Extra strength tylonel was my faithful companion during tx.  It was the only otc that would  touch my headaches.  My dr. said up to 4 extra strengths per 24 hr period was safe for me.  I never needed that much. I also used ice packs and dim lighting and a purring cat. Also, as nygirl says drink the water!!  Lots of it!
Reaction to treatment is very individual. Mine started sort of easy, gradually moving on to pretty rough, then settled into general lethargy and misery with occasional flareups of agony.  But it does come to an end.

I guess I thought I was on a support site for Hep C.I'm new at this and was reaching out to better understand my symtoms vs what others are dealing with. My daughter recomended it so I could communicate with others that are also dealing with what I am. Thank you for your suggestion on finding a different site to direct my issues and concerns to. Best of luck to you on journey to beat your illness.

I'm sorry you are having such bad headaches. I've had a few, but 2 Ibuprofen always take care of them. What part of your head is hurting? When I have them in my face and eyes... you know where it feels like your eyes and teeth have so much pressure that they are going to pop out... I've discovered that that is sinuses, and then I add antihistamine to the Ibuprofen, because Ibuprofen alone can't deal with that. My personal favorite is Actifed. It is an older OTC and it only works for 4 hours, but it has both an antihistamine and a decongestant so it helps get rid of the pressure better... plus it doesn't mess with the other drugs like some of the newer stuff does. Before I discovered this combination... I actually thought I had a brain tumor or something because I couldn't get rid of the pain. Also... I used to think if it was a sinus issue, I'd have a runny nose... nope... sometimes it just swells up in there and hurts.
I hope this helps.
