I thought he said it would be from Friday till Monday. So my guess is that he will be driving home today. And he might cut the trip in two, so he might not be back until tomorrow. I guess we will have to wait for the outcome of this episode of HS love story until tomorrow..... This is almost more exciting than the outcome of a PCR. :-)
You guys. So witty. I really just pretended I had hcv so I could come here for the humor...
But seriously, HS, let us know when you're back and how it went. And if it was a bust, or she was 100 lbs heavier than her photo, we'd love to hear all about that too...
I do want to address your ribavirin reduction and lack of medical care in terms of getting procrit to you. My memory is poor by anyone's standards so I can't remember what type of doc is treating you or whether you are in a study or what. But for a physician to tell anyone, particularly a guy, with a 9.1 hgb that procrit "isn't warranted yet" makes me highly uncomfortable. Transfusion level is 8 hgb and most good doctors sorta like to do the procrit BEFORE you get there...
If it was me, I would ask your tx'ing doc, and if they say no, then your gp or internal medicine doc, to get you a referral to a hematologist forthwith. That way, THEY can use the appropriate meds to bring your blood count up and then your tx'ing folks can get you back up to your normal ribavirin dose. I would echo here what others say, you don't want to reduce your riba early in tx except as a last resort.
And if you are going to subject your body to interferon, might as well make sure you've got a fighting chance for the treatment to be effective. This is just my opinion of course, but I think its irresponsible (this word only lightly describes my feelings about it) for physicians to subject patients to the treatment drugs if they aren't going to manage their side effects in order to do everything possible to both retain patients on tx, and to make that treatment successful.
A lot of times you have to be the one to ask for specific action, like a referral to a hematologist etc. Even with my prior procrit dependent anemia, my doctor's office had already let me get into trouble and still it was me who demanded a referral over to the hema, not them who suggested it. So this happens a lot and unfortunately, we are left in a position to have to advocate for ourselves.
You might consider at least giving him computer access. Thanks.
I saw this thread up at the top but his name isn't there....and I have to know too!! I have to know he made it back safely for one thing but also, sheesh....details, details!!!
R Glass... a swimming pool just makes it more...con-VEEN-ient....you're not quite off the hook there.
I came in to see if he made it back too!
Gosh, we all need to get a life huh? LOL
Nobody wants him back more than I do.
After my previous post, I can see the FBI kicking my door in. Hopefully they know a basement in South Louisiana would be an indoor swimming pool.
