Is it worth it to wait for hernia specialist?

I am scheduled to get an open surgery for an umbilical hernia on the 25th.  The surgeon specializes weight loss lap band surgeries.  I found a highly regarded hernia specialist that I could use but may be a longer wait.  Is it worth it?

Thanks for the responses, the surgery ended up being on March 3rd, and I went through with it.  Thought the recovery was going ok until yesterday.  Noticed a grape sized hard protusion (feels hard like cartilage)  over my navel that is sensitive to the touch.  Looks like it is bleeding, new bruising starts there and grows outward under by navel.   Is this normal?

Hi, if the hernia is uncomplicated, it can be performed by a general surgeon. Also, it depends on the size of hernia, the defect whether it needs a mesh and other co morbid conditions. Please weigh before you decide, its difficult to comment beyond this. Regards.
