10 week results

I had a possible herpes exposure 6 months ago.  It was vaginal sex with a condom...she had no symptoms.  2 weeks later I developed redness and itching that I never had before that my Dr. diagnosed as jock itch that did not clear up with any prescribed creams.  it went away but I have occassional minor recurrences every 2 months or so, but never a blister, sore, lesion etc.  I had an IGG specificHerpes test at 10 weeks post exposure and it came back neg at .27 Herpes1 and .18 Herpes 2.  I was just wondering if 10 weeks was enough time post exposure to be tested or if I should of waited 12-16 weeks and now should I get tested again?  Never any classic symptoms that could get swabbed, only redness with mild burning below testicles into anus.  Thanks

if you really need the peace of mind repeat your test but odds are this isn't herpes going on.

I actually did see a dermatologist who looked and said it's some mild redness and not a problem and to continue the cream my PMD prescribed.  I was just concerned that I was getting this flare up every couple months and that it could be herpes without the symptoms of sores present.  The girl denies ever having any symptoms and states she was was tested for STD's ...all negative, but I doubt Herpes was tested.  Two days after the encounter I was pretty ill with what I thought was a stomach bug but no fever with it.  Anyway, I was just concerned that I should of waited longer than 10 weeks...if 10 was enough, I'll let it go...Thanks for your help

yes that was enough time for most folks.  definitely follow up with a dermatologist at this point for your continuing symptoms at this point. fungal infections can be hard to clear up and keep cleared up as well as many other skin issues that can look similar.

when you get better answers, stop back and let us know too so that folks following your story can see how it all turned out for you :)
